Leinart and VY have a bigger name then Cutler so they are going to draw more criticism. As for Alex Smith, I didn't realize he was taking a beating from the media, but he was the #1 overall pick in the draft.
smith has gotten off light, the thing that upsets me about smith, him an vy actually almost had identical college careers. smith just on a smaller scale, but both ran the spread, both led the nation in efficiency, both went undefeated their last year, both have "questionable" arm strength. and no one ever talks about smith, and he should be entering the good stage of his career, this is his third year. the one thing about smith, everyone pretty much agrees he was the first player taken by default, if leinart would have come out, its no telling how he would have fallen. but he still makes number one money.
Cutler has played mediocre, while Leinart has been benched and Vince Young has been simply horrible while the Titans are winning in spite of him. We have worse problems, i.e. the fact that the defense doesn't seem to give a ****, than Cutler. Shannon Sharpe is a fine commentator. Right now we deserve the crap we're getting because we are not a very good team. I will never forget how he stood up for us in the 2005 playoffs when he alone predicted that we would beat the Patriots, when everyone else repeated the tired "The Patriots always win in the playoffs".
vy hasn't been horrible, he's completed over sixty four percent of his passes. he just needs to cut down on interceptions.
gucci, Nugs answered your question, but I will add that the Broncos are very high on Crowder. They feel he has the potential to be a very solid starter at DT - just too bad he is a rookie as their run defense blows.
While Young has not been horrible, completion percentage should not be your basis of a QBs effectiveness. Carr completed over 68% of his passes last year.
carr was in his fifth season and carr didn't make enough big plays. people keep comparing these guys, espcially young, to quarterbacks who are in their prime.
Who, exactly? I guarandamtee you there's not a sports fan out there who wouldn't trade wins for a better QB rating by their starter.
My point was you used Young's completion percentage to argue that he wasn't horrible and that is not a good measure of a QBs effectiveness (as witnessed by Carr's 68%). If you are going to use anything to argue with, it should be his winning percentage (12 - 7 or thereabouts)
yes, but people who argue that he's horrible use his stats. that's my point, other than the picks his stats aren't bad. its not like he's a completely inept passer.
