Right.... You forgot to add that he's got a history of missing games with random injuries throughout his career.....
....and then got blasted by the lowly Seahawks which Cutler subsequently annihilated the next playoff game. Did he make it to the playoffs? Did he make it to the playoffs? He sucks anyway, time to put him out to pasture. Glad he "said" he would. Josh Freeman needs to realize NO ONE outside of Tampa Bay - wait- even IN Tampa Bay cares about anything he says. Did he make it to the playoffs? Did he make it to the playoffs? Yes. Did he play on a Grade II MCL tear? Yep, atleast attempted it. ...but yeah he looks like a douche. That's his crime.
Jay Cutler is the worst, most hated person in the NFL for good reason, he deserves all the negative pub he gets because his crimes are indefensible.....
Which means what exactly since they're both sitting at home watch the big game? The year he had surgery, yes. It was in the original post. Actually yes he did. The specific time he is referencing is in 2002 when McNabb broke his ankle/leg in 3 places on only the 3rd play of the game. He got it taped, came back and threw for like 250 yards and 4 touchdowns, I can't remember exactly but it was a pretty extraordinary effort which many people forget about. The Eagles actually made the NFC Championship that year. I think McNabb is fine by the way. There are maybe 2-3 quarterbacks who could have done something positive with that Washington team. I think Freeman is a pretty good young QB who will lead them to playoff appearances in the future. Which reverts back to 1. Brees did about as well as Cutler as they're both sitting at home watching the Super Bowl.
Actually, Finnegan was voted dirtiest NFL player this past season by his peers. Vick is still the most hated by the fans. Cutler has taken some heat but most of it has backed off over the last few days.
I think the Vick reclaimation project has proceeded quite well, I mean I hope the guy well and I think most sports fans are over it. My point was simply pointing out that there are player with well known rap sheets who've had an easier time of it. I've still haven't been able to figure what he's done that's merited the level of dislike toward him, other than he looks like a dbag which is something me and the wife agreed on a long time ago. Again I'm biased because he my team's quarterback but in the time he's been with the Bears he's been accused of nothing worse than bad body language.
He beat the crap out of the team that owned Brees and the Saints the game before and went one round farther. I have no idea why im typing this because I like the Saints. But that point is clear, Cutler went farther in this years playoffs and beat the team Brees couldn't. Give him some credit. Not really my point. He didn't make it to the playoffs this year so he cant talk IMO. Jay did though, got hurt and then tried to play in the second half. Rivers had the torn ACL before the game and had the surgery after. One thing I remember is both QB's lost the game they were injured for so....? No one is arguing who the better QB is by the way, that's obvious. You are correct, McNabb is way more a tough guy playing on those injuries then Cutler. You win! Im going to completely disagree with you on present day McNabb - he's done. Yeah me too, missed my point. That doesn't give him the right to talk trash over twitter about any player - he's no vet. TB is ranked 31 in attendance, the people in their city don't even follow them. Not at all - Cutler beat the team that beat Brees and the Saints, by a wide ass kicking margin. (Bear D was a monster) They beat the team the Saints couldn't beat and advanced one more game in the playoffs. I think thats a little bit better than - "about as well as"
Brees put up over 400 yards passing on the Seahawks and a couple of touchdowns with no turnovers in leading the team to 36 points. Any time a team scores 36 points AND loses, the offense is definitely not the problem. The year the injury occurred he did make the playoffs so if he chose to say something, why couldn't he speak as he has been there with injury? I don't think he said anything about Cutler though, as far as I know. That wasn't really my point, that he is tougher it is that when these injuries occurred, these players made it in to the playoffs so your rationale does not work. Could they speak on it if they chose to, sure and they would have past actions to back them up but like I said, I don't think either of them has said anything. The original poster just used them as examples. He actually does have the right to talk trash, whether anybody wants to consider him relevant, smart, sportsmanlike or anything else is the question. Obviously, some people do to even bring him up. Again, it reverts back to the first part. Brees and the offense did their part, it was the defense that lost the game.
Did anyone post this? I didn't see it http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2011/01/its_a_miracle_jay_cutler_is_wa.html
caught a little of mike and mike this morning and schlereth was on. he said that real or perceived, cutler has a bad rep among players, that the nfl is a fraternity and that he is not well liked.
lol if the Saints defense was as good as the Bears he would have beat Seattle. I agree that is is dumb to say Cutler quit though.
Did you actually read it or just post it because of the title, if not this is the important section.... As noted the other day, with a Grade II MCL tear, a patient can still walk normally. He doesn't need a cane, crutches or even a brace. "[People say], 'The guy can walk. Well, why can't he play?' It's hard to be mobile with that injury," said Dr. Neal ElAttrache, an orthopedic surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles and team doctor for Los Angeles Dodgers. Dr. ElAttrache, who performed Tom Brady's reconstructive knee surgery a couple of years ago, added that there was nothing the Bears could do for Cutler, after he stopped playing in the NFC title game against the Green Bay Packers. "Whether he's in the locker room with ice, or standing on the sideline, there's nothing else that can be done in that situation," ElAttrache said. "That's a pretty straightforward diagnosis." The season is over, so it's a moot point. But a Grade II MCL tear usually heals from three to six weeks. The key is to limit swelling and keep a range of motion. In other words? Much ado about nothing. Cutler's season is over, and there's no reason he can't eat at restaurants, climb stairs or -- gasp! -- walk and shop.
Schlereth and Golic has been on Cutler all season, as for the players who don't care for him it from players who've never played with him but I've yet to hear from former teammates. His current teammates have nothing but positive things to say. The thing I've been looking for has been this massive crime that cause him to be perceived so badly, I mean the guy hates dealing with the media so it's not like he's taking crap about people or anything for that matter.
I think it is strange that Jay never got any ice or treatment on the injury that kept him out of the game, eventhough there was a chance he would need to be working towards making the Superbowl. The whole situation just seems fishy. Player is never ruled out for the game, never receives treatment, and never shows signs of pain or injury. TMZ caught Cutler walking around today with no limp or sign of injury. Kinda like he was walking around on the sideline during the game.
Cutler needs to follow Big Ben's example if he wants to improve his image around the league. Ben has proven that it's entirely possible to be a complete douchebag of a person yet still be liked and respected around the league. Now, I'm not just talking about two allegations of sexual assault -- his douchey persona goes WAY beyond that. Ask anybody that's ever met him when the cameras are off, they all say the same thing, "Yeah, he's an *******". The trick is to say all the right things, high five the little kids, respect your elders and speak like a leader in interviews when the cameras are on because THAT'S what it takes to validate yourself as a superstar. I mean, really...being a little more interesting, motivated and politically correct during interviews isn't asking much yet it could go so far. Image and perception are everything as far as off-the-field activity goes. The second part to improving his image has to be done on the field. WIN! And don't just win, make yourself stand out. Show the rest of the league you're not some half-asser with questionable motor and toughness issues. And it really wouldn't take much either. Do you think a single person around the league will dare question Ben's toughness after he beat the Ravens with a broken foot/nose and shoved Terrell Suggs to the ground with one hand to avoid a sure-sack? That game alone is enough cement into people's heads the type of competitor they're dealing with. Cutler is capable of that. That's really all it takes. And I didn't mean to turn this into a Big Ben thread, I just can't think of another QB around the league (well, aside from Brady) that's widely considered a douchebag like Ben and Cutler are. If it worked for Ben, it can work for Cutler.
Guess nobody cares about what the doctor has to say or his teammates and coaches.... Much ado about nothing. Cutler's season is over, and there's no reason he can't eat at restaurants, climb stairs or -- gasp! -- walk and shop. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/201...tler_is_wa.html “I didn’t think he was going to even finish the half,” Kreutz said. “Then when he came out and tried it again [in the third quarter]; that amazed me. “If you don’t have an MCL injury or whatever, then you don’t understand. It’s easy to question people from your couch, but it’s really stupid.” To a man, in a show of unity, Cutler’s teammates and coach trumpeted the quarterback’s toughness, one noting that he endured a league-high 52 sacks this season. Another teammate insisted that Cutler had to be talked out of returning to the lineup, despite a porous effort in which he completed just 6 of 14 passes for 80 yards. But Smith said he didn’t give Cutler a choice. “For us, Jay hurt his knee,” Smith said. “He just couldn’t go; team, doctors and all, there was no decision, really. “He was injured.” http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/3455513-452/com-jensen-sean-sjensen-suntimes.html Nah its easier to believe all these plain stupid conspiracy theories, esp when the player has no history of pulling something like this and the coaching staff has stated that it was their decision to sit after he tried to give a go in the first series of the 3rd.
When had Cutler's toughness or drive been question before this whole situation? He won this year with an atrocious O-line and a substandard WR corp but even with that people were ready to jump on him the instant they could, no matter how weak a thread they were pulling at. As for shoving Suggs to the ground, come on dude, Ben is built like a bloody linebacker, he can get away with stuff that a lot of other QB's can't.
I'm not saying it was but you know how these stigmas work. They linger and carry on until proven otherwise. I'm just saying if Cutler wants to shed this label he needs to get a little badass in him. Yeah, I know -- not exactly a scientific diagnosis but I think you know what I mean. Eh, 6'5" 240 lbs vs. 6'3" 230+ isn't exactly a night-and-day difference.
I hear you bud, just think of all the stigmas that could have been attached to him the toughnes one is just a raw deal. Come on man, we both know those numbers are hardly accurate, I've watched a fair amount of Ben see a decent difference in size, more so than the official numbers.
