Good vindication for Cutler, I was sure it wasn't anything short of a pretty darn serious injury. By the way, why is MJD talking crap when he missed the two most important games of his team's season?
Look I don't even like the Bears or Cutler, but trust me any guy will do anything and everything to play. No matter how hurt he is...It has to be really bad for him not to want to play... MORANS!!!
In addition to ALL of these facts confirming the seriousness of the injury, comes another "but if he had done x" answer. A LOT of people yesterday brought up Phillip Rivers playing through a torn ACL as an example of "toughness" and "fire" etc.....Rivers had taken a cortisone shot to be able to play through the pain. Guess what? Cutler's a type I diabetic....has to take insulin....insulin + cortisone = bad bad things. Cortisone causes the liver 2 release extra glucose, so if you have diabetes, the effect of cortisone can require an increase in your diabetes medication. Then you get caught up in the game of dosing, trying to compensate one for the other. Unsafe. Hopefully now people begin to see the error of their ways and apologize for the rushed judgement.
Even with it coming out as an MCL tear I bet people will still bash him by saying Brett Favre would have played. Pretty stupid. Also if this happened to Peyton Manning or Tom Brady I doubt this would even be a debate. Of course Jay Cutler is the whipping boy though.
Matt pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease go balls to the wall flame-mode tomorrow on everybody who called in today (and even the athletes who tweeted) fueling the fire about this stupid discussion over Cutler "quitting" and his "lack of heart", including Adam. These guys annoy the p1ss out of me with their stupid, half-brained, dadakota-esqe "he ain't got the will to win" arm-chair quarterback bullcrap. Roast them, unmercifully.
Just read about the MCL injury, sadly what the general public will remember is all the douchebag players saying he wasn't tough for gutting it out. ESPN radio this morning was a bloody feeding frenzy with this topic.
Only if he's more worried about what people think than reality. Either he was hurt or he wasn't. And who gives a crap what Matt Barnes said? Biggest little punk in the NBA. Well, on my top 5 list anyway. And MJD? He should know better.
Most NFL reporters that I follow were fairly objective yesterday and willing to wait for actual evidence to come in - with one exception. John McClain. Shocking.
There are blatant examples of healthy athletes who quit in huge moments, see Pippen, Scottie and Bryant, Kobe as examples. One instance of quitting should not scar your total career, but in the case of Cutler people were really unfair to the guy because they don't like him. That's it. Cutler is not likeable to many people and thus had not earned their respect to give him the benefit of the doubt. Make a bigger deal about how poorly Cutler played before the guy was hurt. That to me is what can be debated and analyzed. Cutler like any other player should be defined 1st by his actual football playing skills not his toughness/heart. David Carr absorbed a brutal beating as a Texans QB and kept coming back, but he sucked at football related skills. I don't question his toughness. I do question his football ability.
ESPN 1000 (Chicago affiliate) interviewing Deion Sanders right now....he won't accept he was wrong, sticks by his guns. Others have retracted their words from yesterday: @Matt_Barnes22 I apologize 4 my comments made yesterday about Jay Cutler w/out knowing the facts, it was wrong of me 2 ASSUME that he really wasn't hurt..
Please post links to all the twitter crow that should be coming over the next few hours. I hope Urlacher blows up MJD (out for crucial playoff deciding game lol) the next time they play.
I want to see Chris Johnson retract and apologize. His were the most over-the-top comments I saw. What a complete jerkhead.
These are professional athletes, they strive to win, they give almost anything to win. I'm 100% positive if Cutler could of come back he would of. The team wasn't faring that well with him anyway, if he was still injured and trying to play their chances would of diminished even further. Reminds me of the National Championship game last year with Colt vs Bama.
Somebody posted the link in this or another thread. Idiot said something about putting a pad on Cutler's V.
Bruce Gradkowski: Hey my bad! Just found out it was drs deciscion to hold cutler out! I knew somethinghad to be up cuz he's a hella competitor Darnell Dockett: Again I never said anything about Cutler's injury I don't know what happen or how he felt all I said was I would of went back in the game! I'd never question NO ONE INJURY! NEVER! but I do think if cutler would of came back, #90 from green bay wouldn't have gotten that PICK 6!! I never questioned Cutler injury! But I know in a NFC championship game and I'm the QB? I'm gonna deal with the pain or whatever to win! Derrick Brooks: What am i sorry for? i wrote what i saw and i did say I hope Cutler is okay Kirk Morrison: I've never questioned Jay Cutler's toughness or his injury. I'm a Jay Cutler fan and respect him as a player and a person. Never questioned injury but Attitude & body language
