Yi Jianlian and Joe Chee have many skills. No doubt, marginal players. ;)

Lots of Euros who have size, skills and are above average athletic.

I do not see it as rare.

There is always how do your talent stack up to other players' talent.

I get that all he needs is probably Bball IQ but it is not that easy.

Yeah, they have size + skills, but no athleticism. Javale McGee is a freak athlete. Speed + being able to jump out of the gym. Yes, all he needs is Bball IQ... that's what I said he's a colossal waste of talent.

Yi Jianlian/Joe Chee/Euros couldn't do these dunks on an 8 foot hoop.

Sport news: JaVale McGee dominates in Drew League match; wins Player of the Game.

It looks like that the guy can still play the ball.

1 question, was there anyone playing that was even close to his height?

Likely, an answer is no. I just thought this guy was done since the rockets refused to have him last year, but he may be able to play some minutes this year, who knows? But he was better than Yi when both were in DC.

I don't think he was all that talented. That's the thing about him - of the 7ft population, nearly 1 in 5 of them play in the NBA. You get a chance because you have size first - the skills part is graded on a huge curve. McGee has skills FOR A 7fter - but his skills compared to the average 6'9" player were abysmal and that's why he is not a good player in the league.

By skills, I meant freak athleticism. Most 7 footers don't have freak athleticism. The ones that do, are usually able to become pretty good (Dwight, DJ, Whiteside, Drummond).

Again, you've seen him play recently and can attest that he still has the athleticism? I'd find that very surprising, since I would think he would already be getting minutes on a team if so.

Those role players that came close to winning Contest, I do not recall any of them doing anything great in the league.

Stars who won it already were going to be star.

I do not recall McGee having elite skills that would include some BBall IQ at the least, mind you.

You could also say if Yao had better athleticism and even better footwork and better health he would be seriously rivalling Hakeem.

It is just speculation at this point, not even that, just pure fantasy.

Everyone is missing something, he just lacks a very important thing, his head and more intelligence.

I am not saying anything but if someone does not have enough IQ, you know where they land or what their life would be.

    This is very important.

big dummy or not, it is nice to have an athletic big to spot you a few minutes here or there. All he will be asked is set a pick, rebound and defend.
