Damn retiring at the age of 32. I'm suprised, he is a very good player, and players like him don't usually retire till the age of 35-38.
I really liked watching that Kings team, his rookie season I think. It had Chris Webber, Vlade, and Vernon f'in Maxwell! Fun to watch
they arent talking about the "fake behind the back pass and then layup". That one is pretty routine. I've seen mario elie do it, john stockton, pistol pete, lots of guys. They are talking about the play when he actually DOES pass the ball behind his back, but then bounces it off his opposite elbow, sending it in the opposite direction. this one here: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/m-Vq-DO86RE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/m-Vq-DO86RE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> i'm sure someone somewhere has done that before, but at the time, i had never seen anything like it. plus the accuracy! dang! that kings team was the ****. between vlade, webber and williams... awesome passing.
yeah too bad the person missed the layup and didn't get him his assist. The first few years in Sacramento he was amazing to watch with Webber and Divac's a little tribute to the chocolate man.... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7-S8P3LGA70&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7-S8P3LGA70&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
there it is, nice job. it's a crime that he never pulled it out at least once in a real game, but at the same time, i kind of like the fact that he kept it under wraps and just gave the world that one little taste in an exhibition game, leaving us wondering what else he could do. i don't know why, maybe because he was so creative and you can sense what a love and passion he has for the game, but i felt like he would be a guy who would linger around the game for as long as he could. kind of a shocker to me, and i'm sad to see him go. who knows, maybe he'll be back down the road. i don't know how to embed videos, but this thread can't end without a tribute to one of the coolest, surprising (for those of us who had no idea of their link before we saw it) Nike commercials of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLj3yMGugf4&feature=related Happy trails to a truly unique ballplayer.
One of my favorite seasons of all time was the year that him and Vince Carter were both rookies. You literally could not miss one night of Sportscenter back then because every night with those two was a game of "can you top this?" with their highlights. JWill brought an excitement to the NBA that year that will be tough to replicate.
