People are stupid! Ainge/Suns don't want a bunch of unguaranteed contracts - 1 larger expiring contract plus a couple draft picks is more desireable than a bunch of players he would just dump... this is preparation for another trade...
Alonzo gee was getting cut anyways. They traded a guy that was going to get cut for 2 second round picks and Terry.
Lots of JET hatred on here, and for good reason, the guy is insufferable. But if you view it as us getting a bigger single contract to include in a trade and some second round picks, it seems like a pretty solid deal.
I don't know that the Rocketa actually want Terry the player. This deal is more about contract, tax and picks. The Rockets have 20 contracts going into this trade, several non-guaranteed deals and expirings among them. They can hold on to all 20 until the end of the preaseaon, when teams have to cut down to 15. The Rockets are also operating above the cap but well below the luxury tax line. The Kings, on the other hand, are barely under the luxury tax line-- meaning that they will have to pay $2.5M to sign a $1M player. Dealing Terry for non-guaranteed deals allow them to spend another $6M or so without paying the tax. My guess is that the Kings have somebody in mind for the money. This is why they are giving 2 2nd rounders to clear the room. The Rockets do the trade to get some extra assets and to consolidate a couple cheap non-guaranteed deals into one bigger expiring. Terry can be traded right now by himself for a player making up to $8.7m and can be throw into a package when the (60 day?) restriction period ends.
terry and garcia can go 1 on 1 in practice. ha ha ha. reminds me of the ronnie brewer pickup. ha haha
Someone who is currently better than Terry, as bad as Gee is lol. Terry is bad.. no shot at any meaningful playing time this season. There must be something else behind this deal.
Why is everybody so mad about this? Got 2 draft picks and an expiring contract for a player who wasn't going to be on the team anyway.
