Im going to laugh if he gets some clock this season as so many are saying thats he's not going to play. LOL. Would think Daniels and Terry are the two best "proven" 3pt shooters on the team now.
There is a possibility that he plays, I guess, but that doesn't change the fact that we traded for him so that we could use his contract in a later deal. If he earns a little playing time while here that's fine by me.
Do they get a TPE? Wouldn't it just be a small one for the difference between Gee+Mystery Man and Terry? I hope you're right on the bold part.
You must be stoned out of your mind if you think this team is lottery bound. Are you just frustrated, or do you seriously believe stuff that even after a good 8 hours sleep and a nice breakfast?
Sacramento waived Wayne Ellington. Probably would prefer him as a player then Jason Terry. Still no qualms about the trade though
I just hope he doesn't mistakenly shoot at our own basket since he is so used to hitting those shots.
The question is whether the team is better now after this trade or not. I think the team is a very little bit better, so it is kind of good. So a limp thumbs up. I think that maybe the 2 x 2nd rounders is the real prize.
Agree. Would think if he's healthy he'll definetly see some situanational minutes as someone who can spread the floor.
Sacramento has previous trade exceptions from the Isaiah Thomas sign-and-trade ($3.6 million TPE) earlier this summer, and the previous trade of Marcus Thornton ($2.4 million TPE) and also Quincy Acy ($915K) to swallow down Gee and the other salary of Powell or Hopson that we would send them for Terry. This allows them to move Terry for a fresh $5.8 million TPE.
Terry is a solid 3 point shooter. And the Rockets will be shooting a lot of them. The days of expecting Terry to be a 3rd star are years ago. But he can be a decent backup point guard. And he can shoot the three at a 38% rate. The Rockets will field a good team. A team that will be poised to beat anyone, but not be the favorite to win it all. However, if chemistry comes together, that could change quickly. 1) Howard / Donuts / Dorsey / Capella 2) T Jones / Donuts / Covington 3) Ariza / Papanikolaus / F. Garcia 4) Harden / Terry / N. Johnson 5) Beverly / Terry / Cannan / Daniels The 8 man rotation being: C: Howard C/PF: / Donuts PF: Jones SF: Ariza / Papanikolaus SG: Harden SG/PG: / Terry PG: Beverly
[rQUOTEr]Rockets get: Guard Jason Terry, two second-round picks Kings get: Forward Alonzo Gee, another non-guaranteed contract Houston Rockets: B I suspect the Rockets are looking at this trade as one with no downside. At worst, they've turned non-guaranteed contracts (either Scotty Hopson or Josh Powell, or perhaps both, will join Gee as part of the package) they were going to waive into a couple of potentially useful second-round picks. At best, perhaps Terry can revive his career back in the Lone Star State. We're only two seasons removed from Terry posting a respectable 3.2 wins above replacement player (WARP) off the bench during his lone campaign with the Boston Celtics. Terry slipped below replacement level in 2013-14 in Brooklyn, and at nearly 37 he might not be able to climb out of that hole. My SCHOENE projection system suggests based on the performance of similar players at the same age there's about a one-in-four chance Terry plays at replacement level or worse in 2014-15. Terry's salary isn't a big issue for Houston, which should still have enough room under the tax line to use the full trade exception created by sending Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers if such a deal arises. The more precious resource for the Rockets is roster spots; Terry gives them 15 players with guaranteed contracts, along with starting point guard Patrick Beverley, who has a non-guaranteed deal but isn't going anywhere. So Terry will bump someone off the roster, assuming he makes the team. Sacramento Kings: B+ All things considered, the Kings paid relatively little to clear Terry's $5.85 million salary this season off the books. Remember, last week the Clippers gave up a first-round pick to be rid of Jared Dudley's $4.25 million salary in 2015-16. The second-round picks Sacramento gives up -- one of them apparently coming from the New York Knicks via a previous trade this summer -- could be early in the round, but don't have the upside of a first-round pick. The question is what exactly the Kings are clearing space for at this point. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, they also waived guard Wayne Ellington (acquired from the Knicks in the aforementioned trade) before Sunday's deadline for stretching salaries over the next three seasons. The combination of moves leaves Sacramento approximately $8 million below the tax line, presuming the Kings waive all non-guaranteed contracts from this trade and officially sign forward Omri Casspi, as long rumored. That's more than enough space for Sacramento to make use of the $7.2 million trade exception created by signing-and-trading Isaiah Thomas to the Phoenix Suns. How the Kings might use the exception is tough to see now, but they've certainly got a great deal of flexibility leading up to next February's trade deadline. The fascinating question that will never be answered is whether Sacramento would have played Thomas' free agency differently had the Kings known they would be able to avoid the tax so easily. Alas, that decision is in the past. http://goo.gl/0AMEpu[/rQUOTEr]
i see us being a tough defensive team with some sweet outside shooting. even if jason terry never plays a game.
Yes I remember every one. Jets & Rockets go together actually. I'll take a bunch of those 747's if that's that.
Ok, I call firsts' on wanting to have Garcia and Terry on the floor at the same time. Hide the children. Go Rockets !
There are dozens of posts in this thread detailing exactly why we made this trade. How about you try reading them, big dog?
There is no $7.2 million TPE from the Thomas sign-and-trade. Thomas was essentially a BYC player. His TPE is half his outgoing salary...$3.6 million. Sac will use that TPE to take in Gee most likely and create a new $5.8 million TPE from Terry. They could potentially use that TPE to take in Keith Bogans' non-guaranteed deal and then flip Bogans in 60 days for a player making up to $8.02 million...but they may have to give up an asset to Boston to get ahold of Bogans' contract. But the Thomas TPE is $3.6 million.
