You may laugh but the Bucks just became legit as a location for free agents. Jason Kidd is very very respected by players in this league. He's the McHale of the Bucks now.

So is he an assistant coach now? If not, what happens to Larry Drew?

Kidd is a dick for taking Drew's job. I don't know would it be awkward if they made Drew Kidd's lead asst.

Damn they did Larry Drew dirty.

Still I am pretty sure Bucks fans thought Drew was a horrible coach.

In spite of Kidd's inexperience I actually think that making Kidd the president of Basketball operations couldn't be worse than keeping Billy King, and most likely would have been an improvement.

Their best option would have been to fire Billy King long ago and gotten a credible GM in place so that Kidd wouldn't have a legitimate complaint about the direction of the franchise.

Bad for the Nets short term for sure. May or may not be bad for Kidd depending on how the team does next year, though his short term reputation definitely takes a hit.

Of course, our view could change as we hear more about what really is going on behind the scenes. Was this really more about it being a pure power play? Or was this more about Kidd just trying to get Billy King run out of the FO?

Billy Kidd apparently did try to get Kidd fired early in the season. And did shoot down Kidd multiple time over trades and roster changes -- disagreements in which Kidd was probably correct. Kidd wanted to ship out Brooke Lopez for Sanders (which would have been a win for the Nets imo due to Brooke Lopez's bad ankles). And Kidd preferred Jarett Jack over Thornton (also a much smarter move).

As for Lasry, he'll end up either looking like a sucker or a genius. It's all in Kidd's hands.

As Larry Drew losing his job, I feel sympathy but the guy was gone anyway. Eden and Lasry owe him nothing as the new Owners. New owners clean house all the time.

They didn't handle it well (they should have fired him first or given him more notice), however I don't see it as Kidd taking Larry Drew's job. I see it as Kidd knowing that Drew was done and taking a vacant position where the only guy that wasn't in the loop was Drew.

I saw Woj tweeting about unspoken coach's code. And how Kidd went after another coach's job while he is still working it. not cool

Yes, but it's clear the Russians are looking for Yes men and not competency. Jason Kidd is most assuredly not the type of personality they want.

I'm not sure why anyone would want Kidd.

This was a mistake by the Bucks. Meanwhile, the Nets get two picks & can improve their head coach.

    It's not unspoken code really.

Go read any article written where a coach is asked to comment on his interest in a job currently held by someone else. Or go listen to Steve Kerr when his name came up as a possibility in New York when they had a coach.

It's a spoken code. Coaches don't pursue jobs that are currently filled.

It seemed like the Nets made the playoffs in spite of Kidd and mostly because the East is so terrible. Not sure what the Bucks are thinking.

Mark Jackson was born & raised in Brooklyn. He has to be licking his chops.
