After all-day deliberations with both teams, Jason Kidd has opted to leave Dallas and join Knicks. ESPN online link: es.pn/LAy0ud

Does that mean the Knicks won't match the Jeremy Lin offer?

"Knicks add Jason Kidd and will either match Jeremy Lin or sign Raymond Felton"

    From Frank Isola's twitter.

Read the last line: Sources briefed on the matter told ESPN.com that Kidd was ultimately swayed to take the Knicks' offer to come to New York and take on the challenge of trying to help the Knicks move into the Eastern Conference and also mentor fans darling' Jeremy Lin.

    Clearly they plan on matching

Most likely Kidd will mentor Lin as the article says. Kidd is basically done at his age. He can shoot the occasional spot up 3, but he's lost his speed. He can't hang with the new kids like Chalmers, D. Will, Rondo...etc. They need a solid veteran to show Lin how it's done.

Shumpert and Kidd on the floor at the same time - that's a combo that can work. Now... do the Knicks even still have Shumpert or did they ship him off? I feel like I'm too old to remember if he's been dealt within the past 3 days.

Soo I gotta imagine Cuban is pretty upset right now? He LOVED Jason Kidd.

Also, now the Mavs are without Jason Terry and Kidd. Even at their advanced age they were a big part of the Mavs success. The Mavs will have to rebuild soon as well. I didn't realize Dirk is already 34 and Marion and Carter are also 34 and 35. I don't think there's a player that's available that you can just "plug and play" with Dirk at this stage to make them contenders again.

Yuck. I'd rather roll with Roddy B. If I were a Mavs fan.

Dallas will finish out Dirk's last two years as a toothless lower seed. But $44 million will ease his pain.
