Why they haven't put all their energy into working a deal for Ray Allen or Vince Carter is past me, personally. Evan
This was my first thought. It just seems like Western teams are getting better and better while Eastern teams are getting worse and worse. You would think how is this possible? Free agents leave the east and sign in the west....ok that makes sense, but you would think it's got to end sometime. Now east teams making trades like this. Of course if I were the Nets I'd make the trade as well. Pugs
Shaq has to be licking his chops. He should be able to make the EC semi's before even having to break a sweat. At least Yao's individual obstacle, Shaq, is East though. There is no-one in the West now he should win if not dominate his match up with.
reportedly they have pursued Allen (with SAR), and talked to the point of not being able to work a deal (very competitive relationship in the NW).
Oh, and VC -- Toronto needs a seat filler if they were to swap him. Portland is bereft of that kind of player. Nash, AI, someone like that.
Someone needs to tell Toronto that if they actually build a solid team they're going to win games and their arena will be packed night in and night out. Seems like I'd rather have my team compete, rather than have a flashy player while the team sucks year in and year out.
Not Jason Kidd to the Blazers, Jason Kidd to the Wolves! According to this article http://www.thejournalnews.com/newsroom/091604/c02w16knicksweb.html In a three-way scenario shaped by the Minnesota Timberwolves' desire to land Kidd, the Knicks would send Thomas to the Nets and end up with Minnesota's Szczerbiak and New Jersey's Aaron Williams. The Nets also would land the Timberwolves' Sam Cassell and Ervin Johnson as compensation for shipping out Kidd, who is coming off knee surgery and has $90 million left on the $103 million contract he signed last summer. Wow! Is a combination of Kidd-KG-Spreewell better than Cassell-KG-Spreewell? Hmm... Is it worth a couple more playoff wins that put them in the Finals? I'm guessing if they make this deal they know Kidd's health situation isn't as bad as most people think. This can be Sam Cassell's 150th trade of his career, traded so much that he might be traded back to a former team, that's too bad.
Apparently the Wolves owner has no concept of salary cap luxury tax. A Kidd-Garnett combo would be lethal.
SCREW JASON KIDD! Sam has played his heart out for the Wolves, look what he did in the playoffs last year. You want Kidd to run the show ? He'll throw up ZERO POINTS like he did against the Pistons in the clutch. Sam has 2 rings and countless clutch performances. Kidd has his OVERATTED passing skills and bricks .
Is Kurt Thomas really that much better than Mo Taylor these days, or Juwan Howard for that matter?? Not that significantly. Not saying the Rockets would absolutely want Szcerbiak (his contract sucks if I remember correctly), but I hope they are at least trying to get involved.
so based on cassell having an amazing season last year and having a great jumper which is invaluable in their offense and not having a terrible contract, they want to trade him for a guy with no jumper, a huge contract, and who is coming off surgery? brilliant. i love seeing cassell on a good team. i do not wanna see him traded to the crappy team that will be NJ this season.
I think Houston's roster is pretty much set at this point. Wally is overrated and overpaid, and Kurt Thomas doesn't bring all that much to the table.
