LOL, the guy shoots 50% from the 3 pt, 6Mil is not really overpaying, shooting expertise in the league comes at a premium....think Brent Barry/ Kyle Korver, both getting in the 5 Million range, this guy just might be better than both those guys. I think it's a nice move, all that's left is an athletic SG/SF, then watch out.

and nearly 50% FG and 90% FT. I agree it's a good move by the Raptors.

Just to update, the deal is 20million for 4 years...that's 5 Million a year for someone who shoots over 50% from 3pt land, compared to other players who are expert marksmen, that FMV.

You know, even 20 million sounds like a lot of money for Jason Kapono to me, and if it was somebody like Isiah Thomas, Kevin McHale or Billy Knight who gave Kapono that contract I'd be laughing. However, at this point, when it's Brian Colangelo, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. That dude knows his business.

That's the way I look at it. A couple of Heat games I saw last season Kapono was completely worthless. If he isn't shooting and hitting, Kapono is like the invisible man on the floor, at best. On two other games I watched, give him an inch and he was deadly. Maybe Colangelo thinks Kapono is ready to go to another level and be consistent. If Kapono was so great, why did Riles let him go?

My gut tells me Kapono peaked out last season (in his contract year), will never be as good and the Raptors will be disappointed. Marco Jaric and the Radman come to mind.

Com'on man, you gotta be kidding me. How many shooting specialists go through bad games? ALL OF THEM. Yes he had some bad games, but look at his game log, the guy was on more times than not. Not many people can shoot for 50%, that's very rare. I understand your point that he's not as good at other things (not even close :) ), but what about Korver/Brent Barry/etc, when these guys are on the floor you compensate for their weaknesses.....if he can do what he did last year he is worth every cent he is going to get paid, it was a low risk move.

I hope you are right because I kinda like the Raptors because of Bosh, T.J. and Colangelo. But don't be surprised if the Kapono of last year never shows up again. Good luck to your team.
