“Your goal is to improve in every area of your game, improve your body, and to find a way to see if you can get into the rotation.” Rockets Vice President of Player Personnel Gersson Rosas Dudes were thinking he should start over Pat.
What part of that quote makes you think he won't? Basically a rookie is being told that if you want PT then you have to earn it. And to ensure he earns it, they keep telling him that he needs to earn it. You don't know what their thinking is behind the scenes based on what they've seen so far.
LOL@ the Jordan Hill mention should've just said David Andersen. At least they are both white and shoot threes
He has said all the right things and played surprisingly well although inconsistent at times. As for the David Anderson mention, they are not even close. DMo runs the floor, has an unbelievably quick release for his size, nice post moves and counters, and he tops it all off with the physical experience of playing overseas most his life. I expect big things out of this kid in the near future.
Y'all gotta be kidding me. Every single rookie that's been picked outside of the top 10, or so, should be thinking about getting into the rotation first. You're not going to be handed a position unless youre a really high pick or the spot is vacant, neither applies here. I'm sure Dmo will tell you he wants to be rookie of the year, if pressed enough, but it's just not a very realistic expectation AND it doesn't mean he's not going to give it his all. It's like Golden State saying their goal is to win a ring this year. Technically true, you want to be #1, but not realistic at all. Take it a step at a time. Some can, and will, take bigger steps more quickly, but it's not for everybody.
He did have some major knocks against him. Contractual issues, too scrawny, lack of rebounding, questionable defense, and questionable work ethic. But I still agree 20 was way too low for the raw potential he has especially in that draft. Miller's corpse and MEM pick for him and Flynn was and is an utter steal.
Cracking the rotation is one thing and starting is another thing. Dudes thought he was gonna stat over Pat. They were saying trade Pat and start cause they thouht he was ready to come in and start right now. I was just highlighting the fact that he is not even ready to get some playing time. No doubt he will eventually earn some PT. But a long way to go before he starts. Its not just a case of D-Mo slowly getting better and better to be ready for a starters role. Cause you have to think by that time Pat would have improved tons too.
the season better start soon, the drama is already epic ... JCF: Do you have a personal goal in mind for this coming year? DM: (Shouts over to Rockets Vice President of Player Personnel Gersson Rosas, who just happens to be walking by: “Hey Gersson, what’s my goal for this year?” Rosas’ response: “Your goal is to improve in every area of your game, improve your body, and to find a way to see if you can get into the rotation.”) no part of that exchange means; dude has no ambition its a fact that he won't be ready for playing time Rosas probably says that to all the rooks.
