Spanoulis and Jasikevicius are very different players, while both play the pg position the first one is quicker and makes most of his points by driving to the basket or mid-range plays the second is a pretty good shooter with huge experience and leadership skills but fewer athletic abilities than VSpan.

V-Span playing tonight would have won the game.

Yeah, he always gets his hands up and fouls 3point shooters like he did tonight. That is very helpful

Lucas cannot play any D, he is too small and he shoots no better than VSpan, plus, he doesnt have the passing skills vspan has either. I want vspan to start.

Hmmmmmmm... perhaps because he appeared to be trying to set the all-time record for turnovers in a preseason?

Is rafer missing 10-15 illadvised shots a night any different than turnovers?

I think he is quicker and a better defender. Jasikevicius is a much, much better shooter, though, and seems to play more under control.

I've tried to phrase my opinion on this one in 50 different ways in 50 different threads, and this time, I'll put it to you like this -

Whether you give more minutes to Spanoulis or Lucas, or give them all to Alston, bottom line, we're not winning **** this year without Rafer, barring a trade for PG help.

So the real question is: What PG do you want to trade for and how do you get it done?

Otherwise, if you're whining about Rafer, you're just posting a bunch of hot air about the situation that doesn't address the point (NPI). Really, it's just b****ing - nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, a big difference: RA's missing shots are not added to his TO stat which doesn't piss off JVG whereas VP's TOs put him into JVG's doghouse. JVG can tolerate RA's missing shots, especially towards the cruical last few minutes of a game, whereas he's mad at VP's 5 TOs at the last Warriors game, although VP had 13 points and Rox had a 28-point victory! I am confused at JVG's differential treatment towards these two players.

I think another issue with RA is he doesn't get to the line much. I think a two headed point guard between atkins and rafer would be good for us. Atkins goes to the line a lot.

We are losing games at the free throw line.

Nope. As long as Rafer is shooting this poorly and taking this many shots, it's no different than VSpan being in there and turning the ball over at his CURRENT rate. Not to mention, if VSpan was in there, he would have the opportunity to cut down on the turnovers.

BINGO! They are different players. What gives Vspan an edge is his toughness and physicality. That's something the NBA has over Euroleague play. And that's why players that are physical like Ginobili and Nocioni can adjust better.

Saras is not that physical so he gets dominated and he thus becomes a liability. He has problems getting his shot off in the NBA and isnt that quick to drive to the basket. This is where Vspan has an edge. While Vspan might have problems with his 3pt shot, he is physical and can drive the lane for shots, passes or FT attempts. And when Tmac is out of the lineup and we need to generate offense for our end use players, a guy like Vspan doing this could be very helpful.
