Despite his occasional threes i would still keep Chuck over him though. We did need him tonight and I'm glad Adelman played him (well I guess credit goes to JHill for not defending very well unfortunately) vs giving TWill a go.
wooooow... it was one game and he played 12 mins. He played well cause he is hoping some team took notice and tries to trade for him and his expiring. Depending on the matchup and injuries he might be benched again.
So based on that logic we should start Courtney Lee and bring Kevin Martin in off the bench as a spark plug, particularly during 3rd quarter lulls. (Not making fun of your post, just following it to its ultimate conclusions.)
The problem is that he doesn't rebound well enough to earn consistent rotation minutes. If you are 6"11 and you are a defensive player, you have to be a superior rebounder.
I am very surprised we have seen so little of him, but with Adelman's "strange" substitution patterns and personnel decisions I shouldn't be. His interior defense is just what the team needs. Maybe that is why we usually see Miller who has no interior defense.
To borrow from Drexler, Jeffries is a consummate professional. I've yet to see the guy take off a game, even if it's just the final minutes of a blowout. And I can tell he's trying to adapt himself to Adelman's offensive schemes. Though he's not a great passer, he's done an OK job manning the high post when he had to. Also, Jeffries and Patterson seem to work well with each other vs. the Celtics. They anchored the second unit's defense much better than Miller and PPat could.
Jordan Hill has been off lately and it shows in his +/-. I don't like +/- because it doesn't do justice for some match ups and defensive assignments.
Please, +/- is very misleading. Bulls 13-point win over Detroit tonight: Kurt Thomas (0 points): +24 in 30 minutes. Carlos Boozer (12-17 FG for 27 points, 11 boards): +6 in 37 minutes.
ive always liked jeffries. plays hard every minute on the court. can rebound. can defend most if not all positions. and has range all the way to the 3pt line. he was great as the role player with the wizards back with arenas, hughes and jamison. and then isaiah gave him that stupid bloated contract. if you can get him at the vet minimum, id take him over battier. just concentrate on defending the other team's 2nd/3rd or even primary offensive weapon and take that occasional wide open shot.
Jeffries make Chuck Hayes look like Hakeem Olajuwon. He can't make a wide-open layup but he's a good defender.
Proving he's a great pro. I really like this player, he gives you 120% every minute, no matter the game, the rival, his position... And he's smart, and long, and definitely helps you win. In my opinon Adelman should have used him much more often lately. What a difference yesterday between him and Hill. I would like a guy like him on my team, always. A veteran, a winner. This is why I would resign him this summer for a cheap contract.
I would, but I think he ends up in NY if we let him expire here. Unless there's a major shake in the roster he won't be part of our plans.
If you didn't watch that game don't talk about it... Boozer was jerked because he wasn't playing defense. When he came back in he finally got his head out of his butt and played both ends of the court.
I really like JJ and hope we keep him. The game before - didn't he do a fancy-ish turn-around spin move to make a basket?
