um... yes it does. do you want to bet the viewership for a knicks-lakers game v. a cavs-lakers game next year if the deal does go down? i don't know why you even ask that. lebron going to the knicks would add a ton of more hype to the NBA. it's not even a question. he has ZERO chance of winning in the cavs. for 2 straight years, mo will sucked in the playoffs. jamison was a ghost (and has never shown to be a big time player). and shaq is gone. if you have been following lebron and i'm sure most of you have, he wants to be a transcendent player. if that's the case, he has to start winning multiple championships (and the cavs aren't going to do that anytime soon with their current roster). the knicks on the other hand will have assets to build a great roster around lebron. they already have amare, chandler, gallanari. curry's big contract of $14 mil will come off next season and they can add another 2nd tier star to that group. and you know the knicks will overspend (wisely or not) to satisfy lebron. if the cavs traded for amare instead of jamison last year (hence when ferry was fired), lebron would still be there. he knows he needs another borderline superstar to help him out. and cavs ain't attracting anybody. even trevor ariza turned down the city of cleveland for god sakes. and yesterday, chris bosh. THINK ABOUT THAT.
After 7 yrs and no championship. You become desperate and hope a change will be beneficial. Most players move to another team and city no matter what sport. Being faithful and loyal doesn't always bring your a ring.
it was already reported that it was just a joke that lebron would be at houstons home. plus, who usually believes random people on message boards claiming to be insiders? not the most trustworthy source.
You're all fake human beings and have no idea what you're talking about. Real fans my ass. For those of you acting smart and doubting TMZ and E! news, a homeless guy coming out of an AA meeting confirmed it. LeBron was spotted urinating in a steak house in MANHATTAN. However, he ordered a Philly Cheese Steak which as we all know, comes from Philadelphia which was a proposed sister city to Cleveland. The whole NY thing is to make his decision to stay in Cleveland a shock. I've just completed 14 hours of C++ programming and have to masturbate now, but take it for what it's worth. I've been living off drops of his sweat for the past 2 weeks and know what I'm talking about. LOL just the amount of vitamins he sweats off is amazing, I've never felt more alive.
exactly. for a player with lebron's aspirations, 7 years are enough. and he's been otherworldly as a player for them. he had done his best. now it's time for the lebron show to go elsewhere. i'm sure this is not an easy decision for him. i think in his heart, he does want to stay in cleveland. but he has seen the scrubbish performances by his teammates in the playoffs (and the core roster is going to remain the same minus shaq next year) to tell him to cleveland is no longer the ideal situation for him.
i thought all you guys trust in morey? so why are you all so affected by lebron going to the knicks? if you all sincerely believe in something you guys keep posting in the forum, then this should be inconsequential.
a guy that works for a paper in ohio posted this on twitter: link you can't read too much into anything you hear from now until he make the announcement. there will be too many people reading tea leaves trying to "break the news."
I know you've been pretty level headed about the whole thing. If the 'report' you're talking about is the houses thing, well I just think that's random people coming up with random rumors, just like the majority of what we've heard over the past week. Overall I don't try to read too deep into what's going on. LBJ/Bosh/Wade/Amare/everyone else has been taking private meetings with teams to evaluate what's out there. Even if they're 99% sure of what they want to do, I don't blame them doing their due diligence and checking what else is on the market. I sure as hell would. You have nothing to lose by listening to all the offers. If I have a great offer from one company but another comes along and says 'just give us an hour and talk to us...we might have a better offer' why wouldn't I? Is that creating a circus? I personally don't think so. Then again I take a few weeks just to decide which cell phone I'm going to buy next so maybe that's just me. But to finally answer your real question, I do think Lebron has gone over the line with this 1 hour show. One hour? Does he really need to do it? I thought it was a good thing he distanced himself from World Wide Wes. The problem is he's still got Maverick Carter in his circle, and his whole attempt at marketing this has been a failure. They came up with the free agency tour in the first place but canned it after everyone said it sounded like showboating. And now this. Lebron really needs to get more professional people around him. The only thing that can save this is the 1 hour show has some content that really endears viewers to something, and probably not himself. Maybe it's 45 minutes of promoting charities like the B&G club. I can only expect the unexpected as we've never seen a 'show' like this before. Otherwise I haven't seen the free agents themselves generate a lot of drama. Altogether they've done a handful of tweeting over a few days. And yet the media has a new tweet every single minute on something. And the fans take each new piece of speculation and come up with a theory every other minute. I think that's where the real exhaustion has come from for the people who have been complaining.
Anyone hear that Lebron is meeting with Pat Riley in Miami tonight? I was watching ESPN and there was breaking news about it but then I never saw it again and no one said anything about it, weird
Look, I understand why LeBron could be persuaded to leave Cleveland. That was never my point. My point is why would anyone that isn't a Knicks fan be openly rooting for that to happen. That's strange to say the least.
That guy is telling the truth. So far, I've seen "reports" of LeBron going to NY, Miami, and Cleveland
Well, as we have discussed, we are all Vizzinis in speculating... I mean, maybe he/his people just hired some accountant to handle the routine tax stuff... Frankly, I don't care any more. Having the Knicks picks potentially lose value hurts, but I doubt it's make-or-break. I mean, Utah got the Knicks' lotto pick and I am not so sure Gordon Hayward is changing their fortunes. I just want to see the Rockets front office keep on making smart decisons and smart bets going forward. That's all you can ask for. Luck takes care of the rest. Besides, if Lebron goes to the Knicks... they will officially become the most annoying team alive-- would root for the Jazz over them-- with Pringles, the so-called "STAT" and the self-proclaimed "King." Good to have someone to root against, no?
Great post. I don't blame him for the meetings with Wade and Bosh. A lot of this is the media's fault for reporting every little thing he does. Like you said the house thing might have been made up. I wouldn't be shocked. Really the only problem I have with him is the 1 hour Press Conference like you mentioned. Like you said he definitely needs to get better people around him when it comes to handling stuff like this.
you know how you and i can make ourselves feel better about lbj going to the knicks? buying knicks season tickets and investing in msg stock! my friend got season tix just in case they got lebron. the face value of the tix are $90. people have been offering him $1,000 for opening night if lebron signs!!!
i would openly cheer for him to go to the bulls or heat (as i have discussed with whatever news that come out). goodness, you guys aren't NBA fans? i just want him to have a better chance at winning, and staying in cleveland will not do it.
So if LeBron goes to NY, you would cheer for him to win even though NY winning would negatively affect the value of the Rockets' draft pick from them?
i would cheer for lebron to do well, not the knicks. i could care less for the knicks (but i know, cheering for lebron to do well = knicks will do well). obviously the preference is for the knicks to suck ass and we get the #2 pick.
