I read up on it yesterday, I personally hated the character but would love for this theory to be true.
I watched it with my fiancee last night with that in mind and we just laughed the whole time. I love this theory.
The more I read about it the more I like it. Actually I love it. It would redeem a lot of that was terrible in the phantom menace. If Binks would have been the big bad in the prequel it would have made them a lot better.
Really? I mean, if I was watching either the prequels or one of the new movies in the theater and that was revealed (that he was not only a bad guy but one of, if not the, most powerful Siths) I think I would just laugh hysterically out loud and walk out. I mean, interesting theory with seemingly a lot of evidence, but really, it's freaking goofy as heck Jar jar Binks.
Would've been cool to see another Gungan as a Sith since they're probably never gonna do anything mainstream with Kosa-Yin Hadu.
Yeah, this makes me call further BS on this whole theory... as people did truly hate the character for its corny-ness, blatant pandering to merchandise/kids, and being annoying.... but in fact, that would have made the rumored plot-twist even MORE effective, as absolutely nobody would have even suspected the character of being capable of such acts. If Lucas was getting that much hate for a character he was planning on pulling the curtain on... and revealing a usual suspects-like plot-twist.... wouldn't that be EXACTLY what he wanted? Still interesting though... and I'm thoroughly annoyed that my 2 year old loves Jar Jar and thinks he's the best thing about star wars.
Did we see any other Gungan's Leaping ability? What we saw from him . . . might be greater than theirs One minute you Jordan next you are JEDI Rocket River
I didn't know what TracyMacAddidas was talking wrt "Kosa-Yin Hadu," so looked it up. From the Star Wars universe (in books I suppose), Kosa is a Gungan who became a Jedi, but later turned to the Dark Side.
I actually think the whole Jar Jar being a secret Sith Lord could've worked and would've been a great plot twist if it had been done correctly. However, Jar Jar was just too cartoonish of a character to have ever been effectively used in this capacity and not to mention the fact that he was just too ridiculous of a character to be in the movies in any capacity. If he had been a less clownish ally of the Jedis and then ended up being the bad guy then I think Lucas could've pulled off a surprise that would've redeemed the entire trilogy.
