coaches in high school used to say if you finished a game without a foul, you weren't playing very hard.
Head Coach Byron Scott (on any surprises in the game) There were some pleasant surprises tonight. I thought J.R. (Smith) came of age tonight on both ends of the court. I thought he did a much better job on the defensive end of just concentrating and understanding what he has to do. Boki (Nachbar), without any practice at all¡_just kind of walking through some things after shoot around this morning, really looked relaxed. The one thing that I noticed about him right away in the five on five setting playing in this game is that he understands the game of basketball. He knows how to play. That right there is a big plus. Hopefully, now that he can learn the system we have a few days where he can get a little bit more acclimated to what we¡¯re doing on both ends of the court, I think he will play better.
Hey Stack, $10 bucks says he lites a fire under JVG's A$$, oh, I mean the Rockets A$$ when we play. HAHAHHAHA, sweet revenge.
He gets his revenge and then, unsurprisingly, goes back to the end of the bench. Y'all act like we let go Drazen Petrovic. Jason Collier had a good stint last year with the Hawks as well. JASON COLLIER people!
Boki is not at the end of the bench right now in NO. He actually played 30 minutes in his first game there without going to practice or anything like that. I am sure he is going to get extensive minutes with NO this year. Collier is actually still doing well for the Hawks. he doesn't get much time but in barely 16 minutes a game he is still getting an average of 6 points and 3 boards. Last year he played a lot more minutes than this year which gave him better numbers.
just curious, did Boki ever get more than 25 minutes per game for at least a 15 game stretch in his 3 years with the rockets? dunno where you'd find such info but if you can, kuddos
Never got a chance. 1st year - Sat on the bench never played a game more than 10 minutes 2nd Year - Barely played unless it was in garbage time or preseason This Year - Play a few games over 20 minutes at the begning of the season and then delegated back to the bench and IL over and over.
Yes he did get over 30 minutes game in 2003 summer league against NBA scrubs and he sucked up the joint. I even believe DoD and some others around here saw him play. He sealed his own fate. He had an opportunity to light up the league but he just fretted and let us all down. He sucked so much that even Malick Badiane (who is now in Germany horning his skills) was more exciting than he was according to reports from fellow BBSers who watched them play in the summer of 2003. Go figure. I still love him and will continue to wish him the best. Sometimes it is just not mean't to be. I still do not understand what RudyT and CD saw in him but who can really blame them?
Guess it's a good time to bump the thread since they game is tomorrow. Wonder how he is going to do against the rockets... Im sure he will get some cheers when he comes back
