Forget Fieck. If the Rockets ever needed a Big man to fill the lanes off the bench, look no further then Adonal Foyle. This former lottery pick is a good rebounder and can score around 8 ppg. In fact, i'd start him over Kenny Thomas. I think he'd be a good addition to our team. ------------------ "There are two rules for success... 1) Never tell everything you know."
Problem with that is, Cowens isn't getting rid of him. ------------------ "The day after tomorrow is the third day of the rest of your life." ---George Carlin
10 points is a legitimate low post threat? I think Croshere is a talent, and I think he was a low post threat in the finals, but I think that the Pacers won 56 games without him being oen. ------------------ The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
Haven, its not like he was the number one option. But when Croshere touched the ball, even in the low post, he delivered. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Guys! I'm not suggesting that Feick is our PF of the future. But he is someone who can be an effective rebounder EITHER off the bench or in the starting lineup. He could hold the fort at PF for a year until we can use some cap space to (hopefully) get a stud PF next season (i.e. Webber). By the way, Feick did not have just one good year. When he averaged 10.3 rpg two years ago, many people in New Jersey were skeptical, and rightly so. But he came back to average 9.3 rpg last season, establishing himself as a premier rebounder in this league. At $2.5 mil per season, that's a bargain for a premier rebounder. Look what Detroit is paying for Ben Wallace - $6 mil per!!! And don't pin that "white guy" label on him. He can in no way even remotely be compared to Matt Bullard. He is much more like a Jayson Williams (the PF/C). I think the Rockets should at least explore the possibility of adding Feick. He seems like a good complement to this team and would play a valuable role coming off the bench in the future. ------------------
Croshere and Smits both were very legitimate low post options for the Pacers. Croshere was very adept at being physical and playing in the post, in addition to the outside. I can't tell you how many times, esp. in the Finals, that Croshere backed his man down in the post, or took him off the dribble to go inside. Smits also was a big threat. Did you happen to watch him in Game 3 (I think) of the Eastern Finals vs. New York? He scored 21 points in the first half alone, almost all on that little jump hook he has. Because of his size he even got off that hook against Shaq. He is a decent low post option, and is a serious threat because with his 7'4 size he can get that little hook off on about anyone. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Cat : exactly! Smits is still a wuss though. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
We may not have a Jordan on our team, but we have a Francis, a Cuttino, and a Shandon......I don't think that even the great Lakers and Boston teams can boast an explosive "break-you-down" backcourt like that.... Plus, don't forget that we split games with the likes of LA and Portland (we saw how Stevie and Cat tore those guys apart) this past season using a "backcourt-oriented" offense. I guess that our mismatch advantage in the backcourt overcame their mismatch advantages in the frontcourt at least a few times...... I agree that we need to get some frontcourt help, but I don't necessarily feel like it has to be an extraordinary low post offensive threat. I don't see a problem with picking up a good rebounding and defensive presence (with some low-post offense to keep the defenses honest) because that would help the team, but I really don't feel we need to go nuts about getting another low post star just yet. ------------------
What's even funnier, is that despite his lack of apparent offensive game, he still averaged more points per game than any Rockets big man, albeit 75% is garbage points. If we have a guard oriented offense, then our FG% isn't going to be as high as a post up offense (it also doesn't help when your starting PF shoots below 40%) because the odds are more jumpshots=less high percentage shots. If our FG% isn't as high, then their are more offensive board oppurtunities (aka garbage points) which means, we'd make good use of someone who "cleans up" like Davis. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
Nikestrad: Agreed. But to score garbage points, we need a REBOUNDER (who can play defense). Examples of suitable players (not necessarily attainable and excluding those that are merely dreamcasting): A. Davis, T. Hill, Je Williams. ------------------ The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
Give KT a chance, he started less then 1/2 the games last year. Let's see if he is the answer, I think he deserves an opportunity. DaDakota ------------------
