It's also been mentioned multiple times in other threads. It was ridiculous there and it's still ridiculous here for a number of reasons. First of all, it is too far out to be a legit topic of discussion, especially when we are in the midst of much more tangible options for this season. Secondly, every indication is that LeBron will end up in New York or New Jersey at this point. Cleveland is probably the next most likely place given he currently plays for them and Ohio is his home state. Thirdly, you didn't present any unique perspective on this topic. Everybody wants LeBron. Everybody can't have him. The fact that we could have cap space is way too elementary of a point to use as the foundation for creating this thread. Tons of other teams will be aiming for him. At least present some unique argument as to WHY LeBron would choose Houston over another city.
He is also good at running backdoor cuts - in fact very good. He could be a real terror underneath, sort of a Jeff Hornacek type.
Let me rephrase my question. The fact that he may be a Moneyball player, whatever that means, shows that Morey would want him. Let's assume that to be fact. Let's also assume his game fits Adelman's style of play. Now, back to my question: Why would LEBRON want to come here? He will have tons of options. He will almost be able to pick a destination. Why Houston?
Before you go and make a fool of yourself and make this another epic fail thread attached to your name.... check your sarcasm meter
We will have as much cap room as anyone. Barring anymore injuries to Yoa he will be in his prime and should be dominating. LeBron is no different from any other player in that he wants to win a champoinship. Playing alongside the most dominating big man is the best way to do that.
Wow great idea OP, in the meantime lets also get Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, and Dwight Howard! LOLOLO!L
If he was being sarcastic, I didn't realize it. You can attack me all you want. I believed what I wrote in that infamous thread at the time. The best experts out there (not you or I) are way off all the time. Cut me some slack and go find someone else to pick on to make you feel better about yourself. I've taken my share.
I wonder if Cleveland would accept a package of Bobby Jackson's expiring contract, Luther Head, and Dikembe Mutombo?
Chances are very very slim that he would even consider us. Here is a couple: 1. Yao Ming is the best Center in Basketball 2. Houston is an attractive market for NBA players 3. The endorsments that China and Housotn would offer him COULD be just as much if not more then New York. A pipe dream
We can't give up Deke if he returns. Add Loren Woods in a sign and trade. We could also sweeten the pot with that second rounder we got from memphis. That should get the job done
Nike doubles his contract if he goes to a major market. He already has done a tour in Asia for Nike. They are already working that market. I can't believe I'm logically responding to this thread.
Never heard of this guy, seems like one of those guys that work in formulas but what are we really getting from him? I hope we don't overpay him.
What type of market are we considered? We are the 4th largest city in the US. Not to mention all of the fans in China......
We don't nearly draw like an NY or LA first of all. Just because we're the 4th largest city doesn't make us a top market. We have Yao and TMac and we can't sell out our games. Regardless, if you really believe there is even a .00000000000000000000001 chance of LeBron coming to Houston then I don't know what to say
LeBron would definitely be that other scorer this team needs. I don't know if I want to sell the farm for him, but if a good offer is available (especially if Cleveland could package a decent backup big man), it'd be tough to just say no. I think that you have to say that Yao, McGrady, and Lebron easily makes the Rockets a top five team. I actually think that Cleveland might consider a trade. They know that LeBron is going to bolt anyways, and I think the Rockets have a lot of pieces that Cleveland would have to consider.
