Lin off the bench for cheap wouldn't be bad. Just not as an overpaid starter though. And seriously, what system?!
Except he'll not be cheap enough for the Rockets... Besides, Rockets is looking for a starter, not a backup. Bev is the backup and should always be a backup. Bev is cheap Rondo without passing skills but a little bit better jumper. Harden needs a facilitator, not just a 3nD. Just watch the GSW-Rockets series and everything will become clear. Harden's drive to the basket offense can now be contained through a systematic defense. A guard that could stick with him and body him a little, enough to force him to drive, a big shadowing him at the top of the basket, coupled with fast rotation in defense and this will result to turnover most of the time. That's why Harden's ISO plays isn't effective.
You can't really get cheaper than the Minimum which is what Lin might command, if he doesn't get shipped over to the CBA. Yeah, all it requires is the best defensive team in the game, a DPOY candidate, a squad loaded with all-defensive team wings and a C, heavy-contact officials & playoff atmosphere, and you can pretty much force harden to have a bad game up to 40% of the time (while giving up 34 points and 8 assists in the other 60%) #systematicdefense
I wonder if he fell asleep in that position of if he turned over a bunch of times until he got comfortable.
