Rudy gets a B- to date. He is mixing up so many different types of players and trying to find the combinations and we still find ourselves in the playoffs if the season ended today--oretty good work. I felt there are games that his rotations or non-rotations did cost us about 3 games, but he even admitted it sort of. Posey is our new Elie and probably should be starting over Rice based on his prior performances and since with the team. Give it time though. He will probably be starting by end of January. This team should be hitting some sort of stride, barring injury by just after all star break. As long as we hang in the top 8 in the conference, everyone chill out on Rudy and give him the benefit through the first part of the second half of the season. If we are not jelling by then and winning more consistently that losing consistently (i.e. winning 2-3 games in a row, rather than losing 2-3 games in a row), then questions have to raised about Rudy and his ability to coach this type of team...notice, I said this "type of team", not coaching in general..he can coach for sure. But I am still waiting for them to put together 3-5 wins in row without any type of regression back to non-passing mentality...should be interesting to watch and pretty critical to he rest of Rudy's tenure. Remember, the goal this year is the playoffs......if this happens, everyone back off then see what happens next year!
This is Posey's first decent game with the Rocks. Lets wait another 20-30 games before we make judgment on his game. Althought, I think he'll fit right in with the rockets lineup. He's a good addition to the team. But's its way to early to be judemental. So, Lets wait and see how this foils out.
Rudy plays Taylor b/c Taylor needs to get back into the GAME rhythm. 2 seasons ago, Taylor was a valuable contributor and major asset to our offense. With some time, as he regains what he lost from his injury, he will become that once again. But he cannot do that if he is sitting on the bench people.
Rudy T is a great man manager but a so-so teacher/"coach". Coaching = C Man Management = A (could have gotten A+ if he featured Boki a bit more) Heart = A+ Overall = B+ I trully believe that Rudy will eventually start Posey this season (later). Three other interesting things about Posey is that he will not jack up shots at will; effective rebounder and a capable of handling a few point gurad duties. Rice will be a source of low block offense ffrom the bench. Rice has a better chance of making his shots when he is less fartigued i.e. less minutes (effective minutes). Terrence is an Okay role/utility player but his future is not here in Houston (as a Rocket). Eddy Griffin should (be Forced to) be restricted to a maximum of 1 3 point shot attempt per game. I want to see him attempt more low post shots (make or miss) ..... heck mid range game will do for me ala KG and Webber (not that he is in their class thought - at least not yet). Boki should see more minutes. Sitting on the bench will NOT help his developement. At this rate he will still be a "ROOKIE" come next season. Heck give him some minutes at the 3 or 2 (God knows the Cat needs to rest his ankle more). How about changing it up sometimes with;
we grade Rudy because: 1) we can--we are sideline GM's, coaches and writers! This is the BBS right? 2) Because do you wait for a final grade in a class you are taking to see how you are doing or do you measure yourself as you go? We are over 1/3 into the season and he should be graded for 1/3 the year.
i give rudy a b+ think about how far this team has come in just a short time. he took two incredibly talented scoring guards who had the entire offense built around them and made them believe that the key was inside-out through yao. he has built that offense and continues to tweak it in just 2 months. he has phased out the clear-out iso and at times the rockets have looked as pretty on offense as it gets. this was the same team who had looked as ugly as it gets for like 2 years. he has sold the entire team on the "defense wins championships" philosophy. they're not that level yet but it's 20 times better than the recent past. this team is definitely on the right track, they just need some experience and some consistency which will come.
