Their current team even when healthy is no longer looking like a contender. This is more of a last desperate attempt to throw together a big 3 for a ring. They already traded all their picks away anyway, might as well go all in.
Harden is better than Westbrook, their current PG. He was still a top 30 guy last season. They also don't really have any other option to upgrade their team.
Understanding his propensity to quickly want to ask out when things aren’t ideal and his extremely inconsistent playoff performances….He led the league in assists last year and averaged 20 a game on very good efficiency. He was a top 20-30 player last season by just about any catch all metric you wanna look at. He’s still a very valuable on court contributor. Plenty of teams aren’t in a situation where the risk/reward/fit is worth it. I certainly didn’t want him back in Houston with what we have going even though I’m sure I’m still higher on him than most around here. But the Clippers are one of a few teams where I can see the risk/reward being worth the gamble. And I will note I wouldn’t be rushing to bet the farm on the Clippers to win the title if they got him, but I do think he would drastically improve their odds of being a top 4 seed, which is historically where you wanna be for any kind of chance in the playoffs.
LOL. same thought. Also Sixers fans have to be tired of these type of situations after Simmons and Harden.
