15 games into the season. With a 34 million dollar hole in the roster. Brooklyn is all of 1 game out of 1st. The sky truly is falling in Brooklyn. Screamin A gonna Scream.
If their goal is a championship, you don't think it's a problem that they haven't beaten a "good" team yet?
No. Not worried about the Bucks either. They will be 1&2(if not technically the 1&2 they will be favored as the 1&2) at the end of the year. And they did beat the #1 team in the East….lol
wassup with filly? not looking good after tanking 5 straight years just to arrive to this middle of nowhere loloiloliollloll p.s. pardon its a wrong thrread but still
Washington isn't a contender. Aside from Brooklyn, the best teams in the East are the Bucks, Heat, and Bulls.
Yeah. I know. Hence the ….lol part It’s still very early. And again. Huge 34 million roster hole. Harden’s just awful first 8 or so games. And they are 1 game out of 1st. Not that troubling.
The problem with your logic is that 1) it assumes Brooklyn has been the only teams facing obstacles and 2) Irving will return without missing a step. Middleton/Lopez have missed a bunch of games, and the Bulls are still figuring themselves out as a team.
I think my logic factors all of that in lol I expect the Bucks to ascend. I expect the Bulls to be right there towards the top. Most teams have faced obstacles and yet they are the team that is only 1 game from #1 in the conference. Aside from Kyrie. With or without him I still see them as a top 2 team in the East. Because they also aren’t immune from improving and figuring things out as the season progresses. And they have KD….
Improving and figuring things out as the season progresses? Sure, it can happen, but to a meaningful degree? That's questionable. Their primary rotation players are highly experienced vets. Durant, Harden, Harris, Mills, Griffin, and Aldridge....they're all 30+ years of age. You're getting too caught up in early season standings. That's simply bad logic with regards to being a "contender". GSW just beat them by 18. The Bulls beat them by 23. The Heat beat them by 13. The Bucks beat them by 23. But go on....remind us again that they're the #3 seed.
the new rules were put in place to stop a team like the brooklyn nets. Adam Silver doesnt want harden to get a ring period. How are you gonna allow past greats like kobe, wade and jordan to all benefot from the old rules and then try and punish harden for trying to get free-throws like those other guys. The most egreious was dwade when it came to the free-throw line
LOL w/ SAS. Though, he is right about several things. 1) There's no type of energy in Barclay Center. I noticed a little, last year in the playoffs. It does not seem like an arena with a strong home-field advantage, like Madison Square Garden. I'm still in the minority that moving a team to Brooklyn was not the best idea, especially in a strong-hold, like New York. You could point out the Knicks were bad, but they weren't going to stay that way and the fans are always a strong base. It's still a FA destination, yet Brooklyn not so much. Franchise credibility matters to an extent. If you think about it, there's very little for the Nets. They haven't won, anything. Last time, they were in the Finals or the ECF was in 2003. That's almost 20 years of not anything significant. Granted, it's better than the Knicks, but that's not saying alot. They also keep trading draft picks and not drafting any substantial young players. Which means you are trying to chase titles, instead of building a good team. The Nets have completely failed at this for the last 18 years. 2) Goes back to point #1--They have Harden, KD, and Irving, but they haven't won, anything. The Nets didn't even finish with the best record, last year in the regular season. Nor did they make to the ECF. Failure in the eyes of fans. 2 or 3 top 10/15 players against a weaker team. How come they couldn't get past Milwaukee. 3) If Kyrie isn't back at a certain point, I think it would be very judicious to consider trade offers. He's a fantastic performer, but this is his 3rd team in 5 years. He wanted to leave the last two under some odd pretenses -- Cleveland and Boston. Both of those teams had star players or upcoming talent, but he couldn't make it work with them. But, that's another story. He's missed alot of games for the last few seasons and the playoffs for injuries that's understandable. But, he was out to just be out at times, which is? He's out due to Covid-19 vaccine mandates, which he is very much entitled, too. He is not with the team, just like last season. It is almost like you know they might be better off without him and having him being replaced by players who help the team in other areas. Let Kyrie go to a franchise, where they are just there to sell tickets or they don't have alot riding on him missing alot of games. 4) For Brooklyn, it's almost a lose-lose situation unless they win a championship, which they could very well do. Though, having the talent to do so is different from actually winning the championship as we saw last year. The best teams usually win. The Nets aren't that right now. They could be, but I could say that about several other teams. What do the Nets fanbase have to hang their hat on today?
Got me…the ole “your use of early results is flawed” “my use of early results, not flawed” approach. But go on… remind us again who is the title favorite in all the sports books? Surely not the “non contender” Nets.
