I wish there was a Nets board as good as this one then I could get a pulse .. . THAT SAID I am glad we have the BEST site in all of the NBA for basketball fans Rocket River
Imagine Harden having two of his teammates go for 40 points each in a playoff game. His supporting cast now vs when he was in Houston is an embarrassment, of riches that is.
My college roommate is a nets fan and has season tickets he said james is becoming the favorite out of the 3 already.
Harden's playoff numbers are absurd right now, he has a very strong case of being the best performing player in the playoffs so far. 26/6/11 on TS 75%, +54 overall.
the Nets reddit definitely shows him love. Who knows what will happen if the team underperforms though
i know its just 4 games, but right now. harden is having the highest box creation playoffs of any player since 2009 lebron. whats crazy is kawhi is playing at his 2019 level as well. its really harden and kawhi who are just seperating themselves from everybody right now
7 with houston, we somehow actually won 2 of them (minny and utah). 1 with okc, which they also won. harden also got a ton of free throws in 4 of them, so only 3 ended up with a TS% under 40. if you go by 40 TS% as a cut-off for a disaster: harden had 5 of those in 85 games with houston (1 in 17). kobe, starting with the 2000 playoff run, had 12 in 192 (1 in 16). i didn't include the indy finals game where he only played 9 minutes. lebron is 16 in 264 (1 in 16.5). not counting first 2 playoffs, 13 in 231 (1 in 17.8). durant is pretty amazing at 5 in 143 (1 in 28.6), though divided into 2 obvious eras. 5 in 91 in okc (1 in 18.2, similar to others). and 0 in 52 games since joining gsw. in fact, he hasn't even been under 47% in those 52 games. edit: jordan is jordan so he only did it 5 in 179 (1 in 35.8). edit edit: decided to look up curry, who presumably should be the best at these given TS% is basically his thing. curry is 8 in 112 (1 in 14). if you don't count the 2016 game against us where he came back and only played 18 minutes, 7 in 111 (1 in 15.9).
i swear it would have been better for harden if josh smith and corey brewer didn't simultaneously have the best 12 minutes of shooting of their entire lives and we just lost. harden would've played 5 or 6 4th quarter minutes in a blowout, had 28 or 29 points on bad but hardly awful efficiency, and no one would have ever talked about it again after the 56 win rockets lost to the 56 win clippers. instead it's held against him that we made the comeback, and then after 5 brilliant games after that game (game 7 plus 1-4 against gsw), he has the game 5 against gsw and that's the only game anyone talks about. may as well have just lost.
this isn't insane because it takes Harden out of the game, he won't make a move after a pass, Celtics are **** btw. I really think Miluwakee can upset Brooklyn we will have PJ on James, Jrue on Kyrie and Giannis on KD it will be fun as ****
This speaks volume about Harden's playmaking capability. They would rather die with KD and Kyrie going off than Harden dismantling them systematically.
it's good that his numbers are crazy (33 PER, 75.5 TS%, 0.374 WS/48), but part of signing up for a superteam is nothing you do in the first round matters any more (unless you lose). the playoffs start next round for brooklyn. but good that they are all looking good so far. KD is the guy who gest 25+ no matter what, harden runs the show, and kyrie is kind of the wildcard who can go off at any time.
I am a Nets fan. While Kyrie is my favorite of the big three, I know that Harden is more important to the team's success.
And when he was here... How many times do you think he had a teammate help him by dropping even 30+... I'd bet we could count it on one hand. While guys like KD and LeBron have had that and more NUMEROUS times
lol.... “we”? bmelo the apparent bucks fan not understanding that doubling Harden means letting Brooklyn have a 4 on 3 led by Durant or Kyrie.....Which is an insane strategy to take. Perfectly viable when you have brain dead Westbrook as the outlet, not gonna be fun for the opponent when he has actual smart basketball players to pass to.
18 assists is taking him out of the game? Umkay. PJ can’t guard James, it’s a recipe four quick foul trouble.
That's a good point about the GSW series. That series was the 1st I realized Harden was a true top tier player, GSW had no answers for him and he was single handedly keeping us in those games and was trading baskets with them down the stretch but the story was his 13 turnovers. In retrospect I should have realized that Harden would be judged differently.
