I think we all feel Harden would have won With a healthy CP3 In fact is it not the unhealthiness of CP3 That cost us the series? Rocket River
in the last 5 seasons, the rockets have been #3 in pace 3 times. the 2 years we weren't? the ones with cp3. 13th and 26th.
i mean harden might have won with a healthy cp3, too. the fact that lebron, as great as he is, got smoked 8-1 by the durant warriors should be proof enough of just how crazy it was that we were up 3-2 in that series. the 2017 cavs might have been even better than the champion 2016 cavs and they stood no chance.
even as a big lebron fan, i don't want him getting some lifetime achievement MVP award. we know he could have won it like 7 or 8 times already, he doesn't need another MVP for his legacy when he clearly isn't what he used to be. on the other hand, there really is no standout right now. jokic and embiid have the stats but denver has a mediocre record and philly is on a losing stretch. curry has worse stats than them and the same team record issue as jokic. harden plays with kevin durant just like steph used to and KD just bounces around to superteams. dame is great but just never seems to be on the level of the other guys. giannis is basically disqualified both for winning 2 in a row and the playoff failures. and kawhi doesn't play enough or hard enough in the regular season. i guess it's hard to argue with embiid and lebron at this point.
If Davis misses most of the rest of the season and LeBron leads the Lakers to a 1 seed, he’ll probably win it. I don’t trust that Embiid will stay healthy enough to get it. I agree with you that none of the Nets players will finish 1st in voting. Harden may very well get the most consideration of the three, especially if he continues to be the most durable of them.
Harden love for MVP? He got that here, but begrudgingly because his production and impact was too undeniable.
Chris Paul has always been a slow pace player. Even without the numbers, the eye test can tell you that. He is the opposite of Westbrook. Russ grabs the ball and goes 100 mph from coast to coast. CP doesn't rush unless he sees a fast break opportunity, and is methodical in breaking down the defense in a half court set.
Top 3 in MVP voting in 4 straight years is not getting consideration? What other player received that much consideration over that period of time?
