whether right or wrong, morey seemed to have a clear philosophy of getting 3&D guys who could play D and be decent 3 point shooters (from your ariza/tucker's to LMAM to even corey brewer). i guess the thought was harden would get these guys enough looks to give us points and their D would make it so we could win. hard to argue with the results that brought WCF's and 65 win seasons, even if it held harden's assist totals down.

dallas last year is a good example of a team that seemed to try to max out offense with no defenders. they ended with the best offense ever but were still the 7th seed. i think it would be interesting if we had tried an all offense approach and just dared teams to outscore us, but i guess with the warriors around we felt we had to have real wing defenders or they would outscore us no matter how good the offense was.

either way, the best thing to do is get really good players who can do both, but they're expensive and tough to get.

Harden's got KD, Kyrie, and Joe Harris to kick out to. That's very different from what we had here in Houston. That first year with Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, and eventually Lou Will, was pretty fun because we had so many shooters.

The first year with CP3 was pretty sweet too, but CP3 was (rightfully) taking his share of the assists, especially when he ran that second unit. The subsequent iterations of the Harden era teams did not have as much shooting as we needed.

You have little ball IQ.... They've all had colossal "chokejobs" many of which could be argued were worse than Harden's worst.... Tailormade squads that could win a title? Not even close.... To win a title in this era you need multiple stars or at least another superstar.... The best squad he had his other superstar got injured.

You're talking out of your ass.

The true alphas are the ones that got others to join them. Harden ran like a puppy in heat

Harden has had shooters around him in Houston, but KD and Irving are far more than just shooters, and that's the difference. KD and Irving can't be guarded like just shooters, so it changes the whole dynamic.

    Games played for Nets
    Irving : 39
    Durant : 19
    Harden : 14

How long they have been there is one thing, but to act like any of the 3 really has established this as THEIR team is kind of silly. They are all newbies to playing for the Nets. Hell Kyrie has the most service time. Is he considered the most “Net” of the Nets big 3?

Pretty wise for Kyrie to submit to the superior point guard, they should never have an issue scoring again if Harden's the one steering the ship.

Do you think Harden would have made the Nets his top trade priority if KD wasn't already there?

I'm sure they will have a lot more **** games against crap teams but it's not going to matter. They are too good against.500 teams. Nobody in the East is beating them in 7. Can they beat LAL? That's debatable. But they will be in the finals.

I think he wanted to go to the best destination available.

But that’s not the discussion. I’m talking about the idea that this team is clearly “fill in the blanks team” when all 3 are essentially 1st year Nets. None of them have played even half a regular season for the team and 2 of them haven’t even played a 1/4 of 1.

The "best destination available" argument doesn't make sense to me. He could've demanded to go anywhere so every team was available to him. He chose to go play with Durant.

IMO, the Nets are clearly Durant's team. Irving isn't really in consideration since he's not as accomplished as Durant or Harden. Not only does Durant have the better resume, but he's been there longer (Durant may not have played, but he's been there with the team, establishing culture), and he chose not to join Harden in Houston.....instead, Harden joined him in Brooklyn.

Harden would have to tremendously outplay Durant to overcome that narrative.

Ok. I was responding to the comments in the thread that said "The true alphas are the ones that got others to join them. Harden ran like a puppy in heat", which I took to mean that Harden came to the Nets because KD and Irving were already there.

True alphas do what’s best for their career and not let some owner hold him hostage and think they can sway him to comeback after he already requested out.

KD joined GSW = not alpha
Lebron joined Dwade and Bosh = not true alpha
Kawhi joined PG = not true alpha
