I hear you, but I wasn't saying he is the MVP. I was just stating that I feel he should at least be in the conversation. I wanted the thread to be a bit stronger so I titled it as Harden being the MVP since this is a Rockets BBS. I know that realistically he won't win unless we're one of the top teams in the league, but with that said I just want to get him in the conversation.
I'll be thrilled if he's in the top 10 for the MVP race. There were people saying he didn't deserve to be a MAX salary player at the beginning of the season. If we end the season with people regarding him as one of the 10 best players in the NBA, I think that'd be HUGE!
*Takes off Houston Homer Cap* Heck, no he is in no way yet there at MVP. The only individual award he is probably in the running for this season is the Scoring Title. No way, the Powers That Be give it to him when this is his first year being "the guy" of his team. It is way too early, but Carmelo and CP3 are the likely ones if they continue to lead their teams into success as they have done so far this season. But yeah, just like his former teammate Durant in previous years, Harden won't get that nod from anyone of note.
We need to be top 5 in the western conference standings for him to be in the conversation. Which we aren't that far off, currently 6th in the standings....
Take away Lebron from Miami, they still are contending or good team. Take away Melo from NY, they still are a good team. Take away Durant from Okc, they still are a good team. Take away Paul from Clips, they are still a good team. Take away Harden from Rockets, uh-oh...
Hmm...not necessarily. The Rockets looked sharp against the Spurs without Harden and Lin played his best game of the year. I think Rockets could still make the playoffs, but it would certainly be more difficult.
Lof?... w/o harden, rockets are looking at 13/14th pick, with harden rockets are looking at 6 to 8 spot in playoffs.
I'm just saying that the Rockets looked really good without him that game and against one of the top 5 teams in the West. I think the Rockets could still make the playoffs without him. I would say the MVP in terms of the way you described it would be Lebron. I don't think people realize that Lebron's supporting cast really isn't that good. They have big names, but all of his teammates except Bosh are past their prime or are simply not good.

One game in an 82 game season that Harden didn't play against the Spurs and now we are a playoff team without him.
Ray Allen - shooter, no matter what, he is valuable Shane Battier - smarts, defesne, 3s Haslem - great rebounder Bosh - easily could drop 20 pts, 10 rebounds if he didn't play with both Lebron and wade Wade - w/o Lebron, would drop 20 pts per game and play better.. he relaxes a lot now. Chalmers - 3s, decent passing, in big games plays big. Mike Miller - 3s, passing Easily a playoff team.
In the east, yes, but that's because they're weak. Put them out in the West like the Rockets and I don't think so chief. Wade is not the player he once was. If it was 2011 then your point would be valid because Wade was still a superstar then but those days are behind him. He can't carry a team anymore especially when he is injury prone too.

Kobe, League Leader in points w/ 47% field goal is not bad. but he'll enter the discussion but won't win, doesn't deserve it as much as Harden and others...
Neither are superstars or even close, I'm not even sure if I would even qualify Harden as a superstar. I watched OKC-Miami game and they were good, sure, but Wade is typically inconsistent and injury prone. Bosh is usually soft and scores on a lot of shots setup by Lebron. Lebron is incredibly valuable to Miami. He had a great game every game last season in the post-season because they needed him to in order for them to compete and win. Anyone who watches Miami or the NBA closely just knows how valuable Lebron is. They are nothing without him.
That's the definition of "Most Valuable Player" Who is the most valuable player to their team....is Harden supposed to be valuable to other teams as well??
The Heat went through some games last season without Lebron and Wade. Bosh and Chalmers did just fine carrying the team. Bosh might get set up by LBJ a lot, but that doesn't mean he needs to be set up in order to score. The Heat are still a great team without Lebron and Bosh is an allstar player.
