Since Harden has such a high Usage, and MDA talks about how he looks closer to team turnovers and doesn’t care if a higher majority are concentrated in his PGs, as long as the team numbers are acceptable, I think it’s better to track Harden based upon TOV%. Look at how Green, Rondo, Rubio, Simmons and even Ingles fare against Harden on TOV% This year RkPlayerTOV%MP1Draymond Green32.630.52DeAndre Jordan22.732.33Rajon Rondo21.525.34Nicolas Batum20.130.85Ricky Rubio19.829.36Ben Simmons19.833.67Trae Young19.329.38Dennis Smith18.927.99Joe Ingles18.632.910Luka Doncic18.533.711James Harden18.337.412Jrue Holiday17.936.313Evan Turner17.926.114Lonzo Ball17.726.615DeAaron Fox17.532.616Isaiah Canaan17.426.517Kyle Lowry17.433.918Justise Winslow17.327.419Nikola Jokic17.029.320Karl-Anthony Towns16.933.7Last Year RkPlayerTOV%MP1Rajon Rondo22.726.22Draymond Green22.532.73Ben Simmons19.533.74Elfrid Payton18.528.75Dragan Bender18.125.26Ricky Rubio18.129.37Joe Ingles17.431.48James Johnson17.226.69Kent Bazemore17.027.510DeAaron Fox16.427.811Jeff Teague16.433.012Russell Westbrook16.436.413Julius Randle16.326.714Eric Bledsoe16.131.415LeBron James16.136.916DeAndre Jordan16.131.517Andre Drummond15.933.718Kyle Anderson15.826.719Andre Iguodala15.825.320Caris LeVert15.826.321Nicolas Batum15.631.022Joel Embiid15.630.323Nikola Jokic15.532.624Taurean Waller-Prince15.330.025James Harden15.135.4
Harden had a tendency of throwing some lazy telegraphed passes every now and then, which were unforced turnovers and ones that he really just didn't need to have. Haven't seen nearly as many of those this season, so that is probably helping.
