Great news for us fans. James Harden is extremely loyal to the city of Houston! Can't wait for him to sign that next big deal.

He'll get a extension before that 2017 season. maybe sooner if possible.

Can't really believe anyone saying that. I'd be happy if we just at least get him on one more max contract that goes through his prime. That's our best chance to get a title. If he plays the rest of his career here, even better, especially if he want to take less money in his older years, but not holding my breath.

Its all about money and best chance to win as long as the rockets provide that he will stay, but when that changes he will leave.

"Not thinking about that at all, that is a long way away. Right now I am just getting ready to try and win a championship for the Houston Rockets,"

Players will never say they want to leave so his words don’t really matter, but honestly there’s no reason to think Harden would leave short of a catastrophe. The team has done him right, the fans love him, he’s clearly not having trouble getting media attention or big endorsements, he can count on the GM to help keep the team competitive, and when he’s a FA, the Rockets will be able to pay him the most money.

He’s not getting an extension though, unless the Rockets somehow get way under the cap right before his FA, which is unlikely.

Why would he leave? He can be THE guy on multiple championship caliber Rockets teams or just another who went to LA.

That's what they say a year before their current contract expires, not 3 years.

Didn't we hear the same thing from a franchise player recently?

    http://pro32.ap.org/aggiesports/article/johnson-wants-finish-career-texans

Lo and behold, he signs with the Texans biggest division rival.

Not saying James Harden and Andre Johnson are similar; just saying to never take verbal commitments seriously ;)

And inb4 "Texans blindsided him with a reduced role"

I don't believe him, but there's a solid chance he retires a Rocket.

No. He wont' get an extension because he will lose money.

And Aldridge said also the same and we saw what happened. So while I have full confidence in Morrey I don't put much worth in words so many years before Harden is put to the test.

As long as we are willing to pay the most, he will stay. LA and NY isn't going to make him more marketable. Look at Lebron and Durant. They make a crap ton in endorsements and they play in tiny markets.
