James Harden is gonna get screwed over again in MVP Voting

If Westbrook was averaging a triple double and his team wasn't even in the playoff race say....9th in the Western Conference he wouldn't even be in the MVP discussion.

 

We need to realize that Skip is from Oklahoma and has always root for the Thunder and Spurs. Before the season started, he picked Westbrook as the MVP and even said he could average a triple-double...now that Westbrook is actually doing it, of course Skip won't back down from that and he will use any rational for his argument. Let's just be glad he doesn't have a vote.

if he averaged 9.5 assists or 9.5 rebounds with the team record that he has right now then he wouldn't even be in the discussion

 

he's also a cowboys and spurs fans who has some kind of animosity for houston and houston sports.

 

He's not really a Harden hater, he just wants Westbrook to win which means that he has to prop up Russ and try to downplay Harden.

I'd actually have no problem giving Westbrook the MVP for averaging a triple double if Harden was averaging like 25, 5, and 5. However, Harden is averaging 2 rpg less than Westbrook is and scores 2 less points while taking around 5 less shots. The Rockets have 10 more wins than OKC and counting. This isn't even a discussion. It's over. It's a wrap. The media is reaching with this co-MVP bull**** because they know that they can't justify Harden not winning the award this year.

 

Kenyon Martin: It's hard for me to agree with the people that will pick - the writers. If it was players, coaches, GMs, I think it would be a lot more in Russ' favor right now. As players, James is doing what he's doing. They fit the roster for him, allowing him to have the season he's having. To play every night & bring that intensity, without him, they'd be in the lottery. That's not the case right now. If I had a vote, I'd vote for Russ. The way he approaches the game every night is impressive. 6th spot right now. I don't see why not co-MVP. That's the easy way out. We'll see.

Skip: I can't believe how hard he plays every night, the contact he endures, doesn't miss a game all year. I don't know how he avoids injury. He's flying down the lane taking shots. I've never seen someone play so hard, through so much contact so many games this deep into the season.

Skip: Is it a situation the way he approaches the game, is it because it reminds you of you?

KMart: A lot of it is. Russell is someone I'd go to go pay to see play. I respect it.

Shannon: I'm leaning towards Harden. For all this time, everyone said Harden is a ball-stopper. No one can play with him because he'll take all the shots. He revamped his game. They built the roster around him. They got Dwight off the roster. They built it so Harden can have success. We knew he could score. Could he do anything else? Still doesn't play defense now but he's distributing the ball & they're winning. I'm leaning towards Harden but it's hard to deny what Russ is doing. He's in there amongst the giants(rebounding). He has 3 guys over 6'10 & is averaging more rebounds.

KMart: What's bigger than his height is his heart. He wants it. That's the way he approaches it.

Skip: If he's going to average a triple-double, he's my MVP. It's an incredible athletic achievement to endure the beating he does to get 10+ rebounds, get to the FT line. He makes things happen for a team that would absolutely be in the lottery without him.

Shannon: And Houston with Harden?

KMart: James game has matured & evolved shockingly but he's up against a good friend of his who is having a million to one shot kind of year. I didn't think this would ever be possible until Durant left. I said before the year he'll average a triple-double.

Shannon: MVP would mean more to Russ. James wants to win. Russ wants to win because "Kevin, you won the MVP with me." I won the MVP without you. He & James are LA guys. It appears Russ & James have always been closer than Russ & KD. To hear them talk about each other, you'd think they have a closer relationship.

Skip: He thought KD was his brother for life but he did not enjoy playing basketball with him.

KMart: How can you walk away from a guy who approaches the game that way?

 

I've heard this point made by Cowherd and I think is a good one : People don't give enough credit to elite players who also know how to let things go. Houston is playing great team basketball because Harden is willing to trust his teammates and share the spotlight with them. Westbrook doesn't to that, even though OKC has some quality players too. He didn't even do that when he was with Durant, so don't tell me Westbrook has to be this ball-dominant because he has no help.

 

if i wanted to disrespect the rockets players i could **** on them the same way the media ***** on westbrooks teammates.

ariza is nothing more than a 3 + D player who is just above average at both and he can't even create his own shot.
capella only looks good becuase he's playing with harden. put capella on the magic and he's nowhere near as good

the rockets are a team full of 1 trick ponies that can't even create their own shot consistently. harden is the engine that makes the car move.

without harden this team would be much worse offensively and would not make the playoffs. who is going to pick up the

record plays the biggest factor.. and it has set a historical precedence that is very strong.. this is why hakeem didnt win back in 1995 and i am ok with it.. ppl forget that tripple double has been done before. That very same year the most impressive statistical feat was accomplished which overshadowed oscars tripple double. This was wilts 50 point and 25 rebound season, while taking his team to a 49-31 best in the conference record. The MVP winner that year was Bill Russell with a 18.9 ppg and 23.4 rpg average because his team record was 60-20. Not to mention through out the 80's when jordan was taking his team to playoffs on his own and putting insanse stats like 33ppg 8rpg 8bpg 3spg and 38 pgg 6 rpg 6 apg the MVP winners were larry bird and magic johnson because they were playing with better teams... NBA has set a presedence and narrative. it sucks to be westbrook but if harden doesnt get it this year, he needs to call the cops and report a theft.

The same guys saying Harden has too much help are going to be the same guys who don't vote Morey for Executive of the Year. The same guys saying Harden has too much help are the same guys that laughed at Morey for signing these guys and that we'd give up 130 points a night. The same guys saying Harden has too much help are the same guys that didn't care that Curry was surrounded by All-NBA players.

It's Westbrook's year. Been that from the moment Durant announced he was leaving. There will never be another candidate who is penalized for having "too much help". There will never be another candidate who actually is penalized for winning games. Mainstream media just simply does not want Harden to win.

 

Harden and a bunch of role players has 1 of the best offenses of ALL TIME. Let that sink in. This is how Harden elevates those around him. Look at this roster, and then compare it to the roster's that had some of the greatest offenses in NBA history. Imagine if Harden had a KD like Westbrook did? Imagine if Ariza was replaced with a Paul George?

 

Harden has no all star, former all star, or potential all star on the roster but has "too much help"
