I like how assists and 3PM makes/% apparently correlate with each other.

But the problem is, Skip has a voice. And is part of big media.

Today's game was never about the MVP race. It was about whether Westbrook would win or lose, and what narrative the mainstream media would need to form depending on the result.

why are people not bringing up the fact that OSCAR ROBERTSON DID NOT WIN MVP THE YEAR HE AVERAGED A TRIPLE DOUBLE.

team record should matter for SOMETHING. I don't care how "bad" you think westbrook's teammates are but at the end of the day team record should matter at the very least.

Kobe averaged 35 points per game and had 81 points in a ****ing game with "bad" teammates and still didn't win MVP.

the media is being hypocrites right now.

The problem with voting Westbrook MVP for averaging a triple-double, is that it sets a bad precedent. The way the NBA is going, triple-doubles will be a more frequent stat line. Honestly would bet money Westbrook does it again next year

We should start gifting rebounds to James like they do with Westbrook just to get him to 10 so the dickriders could go **** themselves...pathetic.

No it doesn't. It doesn't set any precedent.

The criteria changes every year depending on who the media wants to win the award. This is the year of Westbrook. Has been that way ever since Durant announced he was leaving OKC. That is what set the media on course to adore Westbrook this year. The triple double criteria is only used because Westbrook is currently accomplishing it.

Next year will be entirely different. Curry won because "best player on best team" in 2015. Will Lebron win the award because he's "just the flat out best player?" Will Kawhi win the award because he's "the best two way player"? It all just depends on who the darling of the year is. This year is Westbrook, hence triple double argument, but no precedent is being set.

If Harden rightfully got his MVP in 2015, I wouldnt even care if he loses out on the MVP...Anything less than CO-MVP is just unacceptable. It basically mutes the point that the media had in 2015 that Curry was the MVP.

Harden should really win it all by himself using the same metrics from these a$.$hole media members who suddenly wanna distinguish the numbers. WB has had an amazing season, but it really shouldnt matter.

Knowing the members of the media who iced Harden from being an All-NBA player last season, I really would hate them even more if they screw Harden over again.

I never understood why the Media gets to vote on these types of things? MVP, all-team, etc...wtf do they know about basketball, really?

Great post. That's why everyone should start caring about the players MVP more, while it does less noise, it definitely rappresents what it should.

co-MVP is wack too...Harden should win this award by himself

he deserves it, Westbrook doesn't...Westbrook will have his chance when his team is actually better than above average

Nobody takes Skip's voice seriously so who cares what he has to say? His reputation is that of a professional troll...

This is his shtick. He chose Westbrook to be the MVP before the season and has said that he won't back down from that no matter what. He is 1 of those Westbrook supporters that doesn't listen to facts, logic, or reasoning.

it's crazy that the only argument people have is "OMG he's averaging a triple double!!!!!!!!!111111"

if he was averaging 9.1 rebounds per game, it wouldn't even be close.

even chris broussard (who is voting for westbrook) said if russ was averaging 9.9 assist per game he wouldn't vote for him.

this is why i lowkey wish harden would have gunned for the scoring title.

harden leading the league in points and assist while having a better record would make this a no brainier even with westbrook averaging a triple double.

Harden always struggles to score against OKC, and it's just bad optics for him when compared to Westbrook who always seem to go off on us. Harden is going against much better defensive players like Roberson, but people will just look at the box score and judge by the numbers.

Harden gets the wins, let Westbrook get the numbers. Harden was controlling the game and having a masterful performance thru 3 quarters capped off by his 3 pointer at the buzzer. Westbrook racked up almost half of his points in the 4th while OKC was trying to come back from a 20 point deficit, congrats to him. The people who will just look at the box score are idiots, and it's ridiculous how some of them have votes.

Can we rest Harden the last 5 games so his PPG can go up? Or is that not how it works?
