So funny you point that out. Why are these players playing so much better? It isn't a coink a dink is it?

That's what happens when you have a player that makes his teammates better.

The Spurs have more talent on their team but individuals are underperforming? Why is their record so good if that's the case? Because they have more talent.

    You are proving my argument.

Sure does. Jim has to jump through all the moving hoops.

    It's this.

These same cowards voting for MVP are the same cowards who didn't vote him to one of the three all-NBA teams last year.

Now you got folks saying the Rockets have to win 60-64 games to win MVP. Say whaaaat?! The same folks who predicted the Rockets to win 43(ish) games (or less)?

And then you got folks like Max Kellerman & apparently the Cavs locker room who say James is only aided by D'Antoni's system. He's only putting up good numbers because of D'Antoni! He's not really this good!

So what was seen as a two-person race initially. . .

Hey, if not Westbrook, what about Kawhi?
    What about Isaiah Thomas?
What about LeBron James? OK, he's always in the top five.
    What about Kevin Durant?

Sorry, Kawhi for MVP is NOT ACCEPTABLE! Popovich is the Spurs MVP.

    It's Harden, it's Westbrook, it's LeBron.

    MVP WATCH
    (Last week’s averages in parenthesis)

    1) Russell Westbrook (41.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 7 apg, .398 FG, .931 FT): Sure he’s crushed that Mark Cuban doesn’t think he’s an MVP finalist.

    2) James Harden (28 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 10.7 apg, .447 FG, .816 FT): Great cover story on "The Beard" in Sports Illustrated.

    3) LeBron James (30 ppg, 12 rpg, 8 apg, .533 FG, .640 FT): He threw the ball to Donyell Marshall in the playoffs; why wouldn’t he throw the ball to Deron Williams, even if he just got to town? It’s what he does.

    4) Kawhi Leonard (32 ppg, 9 rpg, 4.3 apg, .452 FG, .893 FT): Fox Sports came up with this gem: almost six full seasons into his career, Leonard has more career steals (678) than fouls (664).

    5) Kevin Durant (13.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 apg, .444 FG, .909 FT): Dodged a bullet. The initial word was that he was likely to miss eight weeks with the MCL sprain, which would have taken him out of the first round of the playoffs.

Man, 2 rebounds gives Westbrook so much wiggle room it's maddening.

Harden (and the Rockets) has to beat OKC, Spurs, Utah, Clippers, Memphis, and GSW just to make up the 2 rebound difference. I think Harden is up for the challenge, but gawd damn.

Harden needs to start going for more uncontested rebounds.

In a sport where more than half the teams make it into the playoffs, Westbrook just "has to get them in" and the award is his?? Whereas the Rockets have to win at least 70% of their games for Harden to have a chance?? And fukkbois like Max Kellerman think this is acceptable??

The media doesn't like Harden outside of a few people. b****es like Beadle and Nichols hate him for being a womanizer, good thing they don't have votes. Ernie Johnson does and he's voting for WB or Kawhi guaranteed.

So playing with Harden is the reason for Gordon/Anderson's improved health? With those guys, it's never been about ability. It's been about health.

    Because Leonard has stepped up.

always believed that when guys are playing on teams they enjoy then they're more likely to play through injuries that would otherwise give them an excuse to be out games here and there on a not so enjoyable team. It's not solely on harden of course but they've both made it known their time in NO was really hard team wise and that coming here was worlds better all around.

And harden hasn't stepped up? Harden changed his play style so those around him can play better. Wide open threes via harden skills. Harden makes everyone around him better. In no those two have to put extra effort to barely win increase injury chances, with hou not as bad cause harden controls the flow and help them out

So on one end, you're discounting the impact Harden has because his teammates are healthy.....and on the other, you're giving Kawhi credit for making his teammates better?

I didn't say Kawhi made his teammates better. I said they've had down years relative to their expectations while Leonard has stepped up to compensate.

Of course Harden has stepped up. But that doesn't change the fact that every rotational player has met or surpassed expectations. But no, Harden hasn't changed his style. He's playing the same way he's played for the past few years. The key differences are that we don't have anyone demanding shots in the paint and we've acquired multiple shooters who can shoot a good percentage from ~28 feet away which gives Harden much more room to work. Additionally, didn't Beverley significantly cut down his body fat in the offseason? I'd say Beverley's success this season has more to do with his improved physique than it does playing alongside Harden.

some posters sound like closet spurs fans.

Not hating at all im driving up to the game with spurs fan homies right now.

Its cool to try to be objective nd what not but some o deez posters are hell bent on arguing for kawhi when harden has a super strong case too.

Are these posters just playing devils advocate or are they closet spurs fans lol.

    Harden is the MVP.

Any objective basketball mind knows this.

There's no bias in saying so.

Leonard is playing great his team is great but they did win 67 games last year.

That shouldn't discount what he is doing but when you factor in that the Rockets are on pace to have the 3rd best record in the league and win 16 more games than last year.

Then yes harden is absolutely the MVP of the league.

Not to mention he's one of the best offensive players the NBA has ever seen. He's having an all time season producing more points per game than anyone ever.

The media can be silly some times in these votes but there not stupid. Harden will win MVP baring the team just completely falling off.

If we end up with 57+ wins it will be impossible for the voters to mess this up. Most ppl I hear from that actually have votes have all said harden.

Westbrooks team falling off and not looking like they will even get close to the 50 win mark it's becoming Hardens race to lose.

Leonard by the way would get my 2nd place vote. And b2b seasons of finishing 2nd is nothing to sneeze about. He'll win a MVP just not this year.

What harden has done is simple amazing and it's rare from and individual and team standpoint.

What a far cry this year is from 2015. Seems like only yesterday the lazy "best player on best team!!!1" narrative got spewed on a daily basis.

Now it's just a bunch of Westbrook fanboys trying to convince the world that Sam Presti has surrounded him with the local high school's JV squad.

If the Spurs finish with the best record in the league and Leonard wins another DPOY award (hopefully it goes to Gobert), then I think Leonard will take the MVP.

I don't see anybody arguing Kawhi over Harden for MVP straight up. Most people are just saying it's a close race between Harden and Kawhi, and for good reason, unlike Westbrook narrative.
