I think you're right, they're definitely going into a route where the character will be more important than the player, this way the media has automatically more power, which is what they want in the end. Just remember how they were pissed when the players voted Harden...they couldn't even accept that, the fact that someone with more knowledge than them was somehow invalidating Curry as the MVP made (at least some of) them crazy...

And lul at that BSPN front page...just put Curry in Westbrook place and yeah...

Seriously it's done. OP was prescient(even though one wouldn't have had to go on a ledge to figure out this would happen).

    Harden CANT WIN For ANYTHING.

Two seasons ago, better stats than Curry but nah winning is what matters.
This season, nah winning is nice but triple doubles brah!

Let me not forget the emergence of the Kawhi for MVP crowd.

    F.U.C.K. THEM ALL.

i just hope the Rockets do their best and win as much games as possible, they get better as the time goes by as a team/roster and yeah, maybe at some point that bit of luck will be on our side for once.

    So full of it, man....

One is a 3 seed, the other a 6th seed and the difference in the average stats is 2 rebounds, and because of that, Harden (with the better team record and 50+ wins) gets screwed?!

People already making excuses for the dude with the worse record, etc. copping pleas.

    smfh

I just hope Harden comes to play in round 1 to show who the real MVP is, and it's not Durant's mama.

I'm not, I'm looking at their W/L when they play. When they don't play doesn't matter doesn't matter. Opponent doesn't matter because all games are worth 1/82.

So the media is going to pass on the 2 guys who brought their teams to the 2nd and 3rd best records in the league; and Harden breaking records as much as the guy their giving their votes to; for a guy who's team willingly assisted in helping him stat pad rebounds to help him make history and still only got his team to the 10th best record in the league. This again is why I don't watch much basketball anymore and don't give money to the league by buying merchandise and going to the games and paying $10 for a beer. It's rigged sports for entertainment purposes only. It's like wrestling, it's not a real sport. I call it theater.

    Hard to argue with this.

Euro basketball is not as good as the nba, but that is just basketball, 100%, all the drama and theather stuff is not existant, it's all about the court.

Maybe that's why Llull doesn't care about the nba :D

Westbrook is going to win by a landslide. Too much obsessions over triple-doubles.

Yes, Harden will lose this award over 2 rebounds. Blame Rockets bigs for not boxing out so Harden can get his extra rebounds.

Well then they should dig deeper and realize that over this 2 week Westbrook surge his team had a negative point differential. And every win came against sub 500. Teams that won't be playing this weekend.

The supposed "closest MVP race in history" will end up a landslide victory for Brooke.

    Damn shame

When the season started, everyone thought the Rockets would be trash. The media thought Eric Gordan would be done before taking one shot and the rest of the team was garbage. All of a sudden, Harden starts balling out, Eric Gordan is resurrected and Morey makes key trade for Lou Williams and BAM, Rockets are sitting at 3 IN THE WEST. Did it every occur to the media members that maybe James Harden elevated the Rockets to where they are now? It's moments like this that make me realize that the media should not be allowed to vote for MVP, too much stat watching and not enough actually watching of the game itself. Leave the voting to people that actually have a job in the NBA i.e. coaches, players, staff etc.

**** this mvp award, WB will get it. It's a foregone conclusion. Let's just beat the Thunder's ass and sweep them. No mercy, go DD and don't let off the pedal please.

didn't think it would be so lopsided. Votes are still coming in from districts in Michigan and Pennsylvania! There's still hope!

The voters put Nash over Kobe due to 7 more wins that year (54 vs 47) Kobe led the league with 35.4 ppg. Nash only had 18.8 pts/10.5 assists.

By this logic Harden should win it this year as the only difference (besides Harden scoring over 10+ ppg more than Nash and having 1 more regular season win-55) is that Westbrook has a triple-dub avg. You don't vote players as an MVP because of their accomplishments as much as their overall team success and how they better it.

Kobe scored 81 points in a game (2nd most in NBA history) and didn't win it. Why would Westbrook (2nd player to avg triple dub) do it this year on a 6th seeded team and 10th best record in the league. That's right 10TH

but that's kind of the problem. the benefit of the doubt. harden puts up huge stats and wins and is just barely the favorite (in vegas). then the seedings basically get locked in and westbrook has huge games against non-playoff teams and he's a landslide winner because apparently you are most valuable when there is nothing to play for and when you get down against bad teams (yes the comebacks were incredible).

which proves the harden hate even more. because voters hated westbrook before this season. he couldn't stop shooting, he should've passed it to durant, he didn't involve his teammates. now not only is he still doing all of that, but he's even stat-padding like crazy on top of it. but dammit, james harden is on the other side, so we better convince ourselves we love these characteristics now because we'll even settle for someone we hate who is blatantly stat-padding before we vote for james harden. he's not shooting a lot, he's displaying incredible energy to get up those shots. he's not ignoring his teammates, his teammates just suck. he's not padding his stats, it's some secret strategy they've never used before this year to start fastbreaks by westbrook having to run further instead of already being at halfcourt. maybe we'll let harden on an all-nba team this year.

i've brought it up before but it reminds me a lot of vince young/reggie bush. vince kicked reggie's ass for like a month straight in stats/performances at one point and maybe even edged into the lead for the heisman, then reggie bush ran for a crapload of yards against powerhouse fresno state (and famously had 500+ yards - ignoring that 140 of those were from 7 kickoff returns, meaning they added nothing that a touchback wouldn't) and then he was basically the heisman at that point. vince somewhat struggled against a&m the next game and voters were like "well, you didn't match reggie" as if all the other games meant nothing and only the game "after reggie bush had a huge game" counted. nevermind vince had had his own 500 yard game just a month before (with no kickoffs!) and no one asked reggie bush to match it in the next game. why? because they always wanted to give it to reggie.

just like these voters always wanted to give it to westbrook.

Damn I honestly had no idea the voting ballot is full of people like Michelle Beadle and Brian windhorst. I thought only writers had votes. Damn harden I feel sorry for you now bruh, but at the same time I'm happy nobody took me up on that offer I made because I would've put up any amount of cash that James would win MVP prior to me finding this out. Clutchfans, you guys have no reason to be mad over this since this award is essentially a popularity contest. There is no NBA award that is worthy of being acknowledged as credible to anyone on the planet outside of finals MVP. At the end of the day, even if James were to win I wouldn't care, celebrate, or be happy because all of this is bs anyway. If the MVP award was truly valid Jordan would have won 10. Shaq and Kobe would have more than one, to go along with numerous other occasions of pure bs. They'll probably give James the award next year out of pity all the while Westbrook averages another triple double. This league is a joke! Ernie freaking Johnson has a vote?! I mean come on I like Ernie but damn..... It's Ernie freaking Johnson!!!! F*** the NBA go Rockets tho
