I thought Micheal Smith condensed the gripes of many Rockets fans into 5 minutes even if he doesn't think Harden will win.

Basically...they went on air and said that the agenda is what matters. Harden winning would be less fun. The drama is more important than the results as a whole. I can respect that. At least somebody in the media finally said it. In case there was any shred of a doubt left, they pretty much confirmed that there is a bias at play.

I don't say it often, but Michael Smith hit the nail on the head here. The entire Rockets' organization - players, management, fans, etc. - feels disrespected by the shifting goalposts of the MVP award. We were a 2-seed two years ago when Harden lost the award to Curry and we're 3-seed this year when the media is annointing the leader of the 6-seed. It's insane.

no one needs to worry. harden already got snubbed one year when he should've won against curry. There's no way the voters are going to go out of their way to give it to Westbrook who is not even on a top-five team in the west.

A few voter left harden off the ballot completely that year which is shady.and those are the voters everyone will be watching.

Harden, Morey and the Rockets have themselves to blame here too..Harden is losing the MVP and WB is taking it.

Narrative aside, Harden isn't playing like an MVP lately at all. And people wonder why he's not getting stronger support.

Pretty sure Royce Young has a vote as well...

I keep thinking Harden has a great shot...then remember it's the same voters who kept him off every All-NBA team last season and then I'm not so sure.

He is not fully resting either so he is trying to juggle this out.

I hope his playoff performance is not that topsy turvy inconsistent.

If anyone needed an illustration of just how far the Westbrook GOAT season narrative has run, here it is:

Get onto google and type in "Westbrook's historic season"
    About 57,000 results

Do the same for "Harden's historic season" , at the same time remembering that this article came out a few days ago which illustrated that even in the context of what Westbrook is doing, Harden is putting together the greatest individual season of all time.
    About 887 results
Out of the top 5 results, 3 are about Harden's shoes, and 1 is from 2015.

The lack of recognition of historical greatness is astounding.

Kardashians would not even exist in popular culture if people could think sensibly.

Honestly, the way Harden has played since the wrist injury and the way Westbrook has played. I am a complete homer, but Harden screwed himself out of MVP by laying so many eggs lately. My level of saltiness definitely won't be as high if Westbrook wins now. The guy has been beasting at exactly the right time, whereas Harden has been, frankly, not great.

I just hope this kind of play doesn't crossover into the playoffs. If we lose to OKC that would be the worst outcome, people here are talking like it's a sure thing, but I'm anxious. The big games down the stretch this year Harden has been completely marginalised, he's our engine, but honestly, with the exception of a few games, Harden plays better in the regular season than the playoffs. Nothing is a given. I hope he's able to turn it on during the playoffs.

MVP be damned, but losing to OKC in the first round would be too emotionally devastating, I don't know if I could handle it.

I'm with you on that last paragraph.

OKC has won with their defense this season, and it's something you can always rely on. I don't expect OKC bigs to be letting Russ cruise in for rebounds, they're going to bring some muscle and we'll have to see if Capela, Anderson and Nene can handle it. (Phrasing).

Furthermore, we are so heavily reliant on the three (which hasn't been falling consistently)...the makings are there for an upset, if you want to call it that.

I feel the teams are evenly matched. I Have all season. Have to hope we get hot.

Let's call a spade a spade. Harden has been pretty terrible down the stretch while Westbrook has just flat out beasted. As the narrative swung WB's way, Harden had 3 games on National TV to show his true MVP caliber and he laid eggs on all 3 games - Portland, GSW and Clippers. His 3 point percent is down, still turning the ball over, Rockets having a mediocre record since All star break.

At this point, Harden is as much to blame if he doesn't get the MVP as the narrative or the media bias or whatever. He has just ran out of gas when it mattered most.

No way OKC traded him if Harden actually performed in the Finals like he killed the Spurs beforehand.

He just ran out of gas there. Still showing flashes but it was not his series.

i'm over it. had we won 5ish more games harden would have a stronger case. but since we've been playing .55 ball since the break, westbrook with (slightly more) gaudy statlines really punched the mvp for him.

let's hope we sweep the thunder and take that "snub" momentum into the semis. people all focused on the warriors and forget we have to go through san antonio first.
