I refuse to watch this. I can't listen to the stupidity any more. I'm having a good day, and shows like Undisputed, SportsNation, and The Jump will just end up pissing me off.

So True, and this is why he wont win MVP. Harden is having just as good a season as russ is statistically But the main point here is Who has better STATS is something that actually could be argue either way. Some could argue that because harden does it at higher efficiency it could be even better then RWs #s. Or that because RW has the highest usage rate in history his stats are inflated. Or because he leads the league in defensive FT rebounding (which a team doesent give a **** about, but ironically will be the main reason he wins it)
What CANT be argued is the standings..its plain and simple James has 8 more wins on a team that was projected in the preseason to have 3 less then the thunder. And then you hear skip disregarded 8 wins like its a small margin. HELLO. OKC would be watching from home if they had 8 less wins. We have the 3rd best record in the league ppl, give the man ****in credit.

Then they say we are the 6th seed without James Harden...LOL I always tell myself iam not gonna get my blood boiling over some idiotic basketball analysts but i mean DAMN. Iam actually half glad they dont announce MVP until after the playoffs, James is gonna eat their team alive

The website I was on had Harden at 1:7.5 odds, Westbrook at 1:1.5 odds

Crazy! No hate on Westbrook, as other posters have said he's been great down the stretch and had a historic season, but it's completely unprecedented for him to win, I really wish they gave the MVP in the second round, so we could have another Dirk basement moment

Those odds are nuts. I put $50 bucks on Harden on the off-chance there are sane voters that use the same measuring stick that has been used for last 40 odd years.

So much stupid logic out there.

OKC projection was 6th. OKC landed 6th on expectation.
Houston's projection was 8th-out of playoffs. Houston finished 3rd best record in the league overall.

OKC's role players were ranked higher in player rankings to start the season.
Houston's players are now regarded as being better.

Is it that hard to suggest that Harden made his teammates that much better? Isn't that what being valuable is?

    Gives me a headache.

I would put a grand now on Harden winning MVP. No way Westbrook wins. ESPN is pushing it hard, but they were when the straw poll of actual voters had Harden winning it by a large margin.

Uh no... Archibald wouldn't have done it if James breaks the record. Meanwhile..., Oscar did average a triple double for a season.

I disagree. When talking about Most Valuable Player, "most points created" fits the MVP much more nicely than does "averaging a triple double" does. Averaging a triple double is individually based, a Player of the Year type award.

To spare your ears, Caron Butler claimed that the Thunder without Westbrook would be the Brooklyn Nets. I don't know if they'd be THAT bad, but they're certainly a lottery team, so no argument there. But then when Shannon Sharpe responded "what would the Rockets be without Harden?", Butler said the 6th seed in the West. And Bayless agreed. Think about that. The Grizzlies right now are in 7th place and will finish with 43-44 wins. So Butler and Bayless actually believe that sans Harden, this Rockets team would still win 45+ games in the Western Conference.

Everyone thinks differently. My definition of MVP is much different from the next guy. It should be a combo of stats and team success.

The only argument for Westbrook is "triple double". Sad. Maybe we should create a 3x2 award, because Westbrook wasn't the most valuable.

If I had a vote, I would put a slight edge to Harden over Kawahi(who plays defense) and have Westbrook 3rd or 4th depending on how Boston finishes. I just don't think a great player on the 10th best team should be rewarded.

If that were the case, why hasn't Anthony Davis been rewarded while his team hasn't had much success. Stupid logic.

A team led by Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon can make the 6th seed in the west? Are we all on ****ing crack now? I've heard it all. Without Harden this team wouldn't make the 8th seed in the east. Wouldn't be close. We have some nice role players but they feed off 1 all star.

Also if you told Presti that he'd have to fire Donovan and hire Dantoni in the offseason, he would have punched you square in the jaw. Dantoni has been wonderful and Morey did a good job remaking this roster but the revisionist history being pushed is phenomenally frustrating.

So there is a legitimate chance, Westbrook can be the first MVP with a record worse than 4th?

    That would be historical too.

It does not work that way. If Harden was not here, they'd probably trade for another allstar.

Lowry caliber. Lowry probably would take us to the 6-8th place with the exact role players I guess.

I think the media world does not hate us, they ignore us, they do not have us on the map.

Where there was no love, there is no hate. Only indifference.

The label "most points created" is too ambiguous and inaccurate.
