maaan i need to log off. Someone called d'antoni an "elite coach" as a means to discredit Harden. I replied and said then where are Kobe and Melo's MVPs when he was there? Dude replied back and said it was because of Lebron playing at his peak! "of course they won't win mvp when lebron is having his best seasons" hahahaha people are insane

No one cares, they only care about Westbrooks triple double record and almost getting beat by sub.500 teams then having to fight tooth and nail to be clutch and beat them. If you mention something like this people, even posters here, will accuse you of "hating."

Honestly, it's so BS. They didn't give the MVP to Wilt when he averaged 50/25, they didn't give it to Jordan when he averaged 37, they didn't give it to Kobe when he averaged 35 (when he actually played with scrubs). They all had amazing, historic seasons and everyone can recognize that, but they weren't MVP, the MVP gives their team a shot at the title.

It's over. Harden is still my MVP, but he'd have to drop 100 in a game or something to get MVP at this point. Everyone wanted to give Russ the award preseason to spite KD, he couldn't get his team to win like Harden has done, but breaking an impressive record is justification enough for them, even if it goes against all previous measurements.

Even posters here think he deserves it, which is sad. Westbrook has been amazing this season for sure, a season for the history books, but his usage% will easily break Kobe's 05-06 record (38.74%), Westbrook at a crazy 41.8%, he's not as efficient as Harden, doesn't have the wins, his team is where most preseason rankings had them at, and has actually made his teammates worse, evidenced by the fact preseason everyone was gushing over OKC's roster, now all of a sudden they're a bunch of scrubs?

There is no precedent to award Westbrook the MVP, but he will win it, because it's what the fans want and it's what the NBA wants.

For what it's worth I watched Westbrook's last triple double game, and he played an amazing game, that buzzer beater was super clutch, but it's also the perfect game to completely diminish Harden's whole season and prop up Westbrook and claim he's the undisputed MVP.

Westbrook is deserving in most seasons but not THIS season. Westbrook is fantastic, no hate.... But hardens been better this year.

Do people forget he had 35, 15, and 11 last night also? Dudes just as impressive with volume stats and winning more.

Is dissapointing that a lot of posters here ditched him but im still with harden.

    Just beard through the playoffs!

Most points created in history is slightly more impressive than double figures in Pts, Rbs, and Ast but aesthetically it's hard to convey and not 'sexy' to the simple minded fans and voters.

I mean Harden has done something no one else has while technically Russ hasn't.

Been done before. What James Harden has done (most points created) has never been done.

I was surprise that big O wasn't the MVP when he avg a triple double for the season. Not only wasn't he the MVP, he was 3rd in MVP voting. Give me some hope that Harden will be the choice. But then...

I don't think "most points created" will resonate with most fans b/c it seems cherry picked. After all, you're giving Harden full credit for his teammate making a 3 pointer, and that doesn't really make sense. Making the 3 pointer is much more difficult than making the pass.

It's also a misleading label. Look at last year's Warriors squad. Their offense centered on Curry moving with and without the ball to distort defenses, and more often than not, Draymond Green got the assist while a Warriors' teammate got the basket. So according to the "points created" label, even though Curry created the opening, he didn't create any points? And what about hockey assists? Our championship teams focused on Olajuwon drawing double teams and his teammates getting the ball to the open guy. Since he created the defensive breakdown, shouldn't he get more credit than the guy who made the final pass?

The "most points created" concept simply has too many holes

At this point, it's not fair to say Harden is going to get screwed. Westbrook has finished the season incredibly strong, and has even improved some of his advanced statistics in the process. We're witnessing historic seasons from both players, and honestly, I'm at a point where even I have to concede that I wouldn't be that upset if Westbrook got the award.

Now, more importantly, the Rockets better whoop that OKC ass in the first round. At this point, that's the ONLY thing that needs to be on the Rockets' mind.

don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but here is a good reddit article stating reasons for Harden's case for mvp

Every time I think I've heard the dumbest take imaginable, along comes one that lowers the bar even more. Skip ahead to 3:08 to hear Caron Butler make an ass of himself(and Skip agreeing with him):

People will forget about the small things that Harden has accomplished

Like assisting and scoring while having a high True Shooting percentage. Nobody has done it before but nobody really cares.

Nobody that took an interest in the Rockets this season at least.

While the average guy will look at Oscar Robertson's record and Russell Westbrook they automatically follow that story and more than likely followed that story most of the season.

They are stocked and cheer him on to achieve it. That is something people see on the news every day.

I did not see anything about the Harden feat all season, the first time I saw it was a couple of weeks ago.

Some guy in that comment section really just said if you replaced a good passer like Kendall Marshall with Harden, they'd still make the playoffs because Rockets have good shooters and point guards thrive in Mike D'Antoni's system. KENDALL F'N MARSHALL.

Can this regular season be over already? Jesus

I was just gonna post this. Caron was funny - arguing that the Thunder without WB are the Nets and that the Rockets without Harden would be a 6th seed in the West.

And then not being able to counter the arguments anymore. His face when he heard (clearly for the first time) that the Thunder had a few lottery picks on their roster, or when he found out about WB being the league leader in rebounds of missed (uncontested) FTs, or when he found out about Harden generating more points on better efficiency...that was all clearly news for him.

Harden should definitely get the MVP this season.

That said, WB is having one heck of a season!! Not to take anything away from what he has done this year.
