They just don't want to give it to Harden...Harden could be on the best team avg triple double..and he'd get called a ballhog!! It's no use..the voters are too bias!

I'm assuming that the people voting for Kawhi will have Harden 2nd on their ballots

Westbrick's triple doubles are fake! His teammates let him get the rebounds...Why is that impressive?!

exactly, he was the player the media was looking for an excuse to give the award to. harden was the player they were looking for an excuse to not give it to. now they found it.

The real question is do Westbrooks teammates enjoy playing with him?

Guys it's really simple and it goes like this, Westbrook by nature just plays with a style most people like to watch (sprinting, dunking, yelling etc ) , Harden dismantles you with his craftiness and change of speed and deceptive pace. Plus his 3 point foul creation is super smart but just turns off anybody that is not a rockets fan. Popularity contest = Westbrook

By giving the MVP to Westbrick the voters are cheapening the award. The MVP should go to a player on one of the top teams...Rockets have 3rd best record in the NBA. The Thunder were projected ahead of Rockets at the beginning of the season. If anything the Thunder are underachieving and the Rockets have wildly overachieved..some even had Rockets not even making the playoffs. Now the narrative has changed to Rockets have too much talent...that’s why Harden’s not MVP! I'll give Curry a pass..he was the best player on the best team…I get that argument...but giving the MVP to Westbrick is disgraceful...it makes no sense. They have never given the MVP to a player on a team with a record that poor. I admit...Westbrick is an exciting player to watch...but if he’s not producing wins..he’s not that valuable! The MVP award has always been about winning until this year!! Why now? Because they don’t want to give it to Harden..that’s why? The MVP award is ruined! Now the MVP is about ball hogging, stat padding, individual records..not making the team better...not winning!!

This is really similar to 2005-2006.
Nash won because of team record over Bryant. Phoenix (54-28) 3rd best record NBA and Lakers (45-37) 11th best record in the nba.
Harden's stats are actually not less impressive than Westbrooks. He creates more points (and takes 5 less shots and shoots at a higher percentage). He actually defends much better than Westbrook does.

It would be a disgrace if Westbrook wins it. I would be sort of ok with Leonard getting it, Harden deserves it much more, but if leonard gets it they are sort of consistent believing wining is important.
I cannot believe giving the award to a player on a team with the 10th best record. On top of that the Thunder are not that untalented. Oladipo, Kanter and Adams, Gibson are good players. I would love to have those 3 on our team. I would trade anybody on the rockets not names Harden for Adams. It is the way Westbrook is playing which make it seem that way.

But I expect that Westbrook will win it.

Obviously OKC's record could have been even better, I guess 4th or 5th tops.

Utah got a lot of young talent and Clips while used to choking are still a solid veteran team.

WB gets too much praise admittedly but he has been a Top 8 player for years now and that should not be a surprise or injustice.

    Kawhi
    WB
    Harden

In no order. Those 3 all deserve it. Kawhi maybe a tad less deserving statswise but I would be fine with it as well.

I am not saying westbrook is not an impressive player. And he is having an historic year. But he should not won the MVP.

Harden is also having a historic year (most points created of all time). While also winning much more games.

I just cannot see how you give the MVP to a guy who will likely not make it to the second round.

Which is why the award has been overrated as hell and nobody really talks about the Finals MVP.

It is a regular season award only that does not factor in any results or performance beyond it - thus excluding the postseason.

As great as Nash has been, he never came close to winning one and he has 2 MVPs so it would give a chance to players that have been on good but not great teams.

If they played better D, Nash would at least been to the Finals with that team. Better said Spurs were a great team all ends considered.

So to me this whole Russell WB could have won 5 more games without stats padding looks like nitpicking to me.
He is not the most efficient star but he isn't the most inefficient guy either.

Either way OKC and the Rockets are very likely not to see the Finals this year barring a miracle (miracles happen though).

Rockets play better than OKC but are behind Spurs and GSW. Could be a potential 2nd round exit.

This is just talking about who won a couple more regular season games which are just not "that important" when targeting the O'Brien trophy.

Stop diminishing what WB is doing just because you want Harden to win so badly. I think at this point Westbrook is well-deserving. Just amazing what this guy does. Actually, Harden could learn a thing or two from this guy with his mid-range game and will to take over and get to the hole. Harden has the same ability, but just falls in love with that 3pt shot so partly Morey and himself to blame. Harden needs to stop looking for cheap fouls, play hard and just take any shot that is available to him. Stop talking about MVP, his stats etc. Just go out there and win. As great as Harden is, he could be even better.

This has to be the most annoying phrase to come out of this year's MVP conversation.

When was the last time you heard anybody in the media say Harden is having the best offensive season in the history of the league? Westbrook is being diminished? By who? When?

I for one do not want to see media only or fan only votings.

Maybe a jury of the Greats, fan representatives and actual players voting?

Well harden is going out there and winning much more than Westbrook.

And I have said that wht westbrook os doing is great. I just think what harden is doing is even greater.

Harden / Rockets fans acting like what WB is doing is not MVP worthy and somehow just a stats thing.
