So Westbrook has gone from being up 3-1 against the Warriors, to losing the series, to losing Durant, to 6th place in the West. How's that an improvement? Only in media la-la-land is Westbrook a winner.

How about this as a new rule: In order to be eligible as an MVP candidate for any particular season, your team must qualify for home court advantage in at least one round of the NBA Playoffs that season.

1 of the dumbest things that the media talks about is having a co-MVP. That's damn near impossible with so many people voting and with the ability to place a player anywhere from 1st to 5th. Are people gonna put both Harden and Westbrook in 1st place on their ballot? That's not even allowed. The stupidity is just mind boggling to me.

Yeah, that entire subplot seems to be completely buried.

I'll turn off sports writing as fake news if Harden doesn't win it.

Or when that Woj bomb hits.

I imagine this is what Clutchfans will be like when the MVP news hits (at 1 min mark)

It's incredibly transparent what they're doing when that happens. They don't want to upset one player, team and/or fanbase, so they pander by saying both are amazing and try not to publicly make a hard decision. Thing is, for educated fans, I feel like that's more annoying than a voter for the other side. At least the "other side" voters are willing to take a stand and be open with you.

By the way, for those who haven't heard my podcast today, Brian Geltzeiler brought up a really interesting point. He says he's heard the majority of current players LIKE Harden more than Russ (I think he's correct on this), and he thinks this may impact the voting. He didn't specifically spell out how, but what he's referring to is players making their preference clear in conversations with media voters, and then voters acting on those opinions.

It's an interesting dynamic, because as @Deuce brought up to me on Twitter, the "old guard" of former-players-turned-analysts clearly prefers Westbrook. Perhaps they think he's more of a throwback -- I don't know. But what Brian is pointing out, and I think he's right -- while the "old guard" yells about Westbrook on all the hot-take shows, there's also a groundswell of support for Harden among CURRENT players that could be as or more influential (but isn't being taken into account by many fans, since it's not happening on TV or Twitter).

I'm glad there are intelligent voters that don't get persuaded by the media. However, listening to that Lowe Post podcast with Windhorst, he said he doesn't have enough time to watch the games so he holds other people's opinions in high regard.

Windhorst talked about listening Rachel Nichols and the ex-player media talent; he even talked about how much he respected Lowe's opinion.

Lowe paused for a second and said, "That's not good."

I agree, that's not good. Windhorst has a vote.

A lot of money pouring in on RWB... almost a 3 to 1 favorite to win the MVP now.

Westbrook is just setting himself up for a 4th quarter comeback that the media will drool over. It doesn't matter that they are down 15 against the Suns, the 4th quarter comeback is all that matters.
