Conditioning? He's the guy that says he doesn't have the ability to run and play hard for up to 48 minutes over of a 2 hour span... ala 'too much energy exerted on offense to play defense consistently...' I don't doubt the guy has strength - he can barrell down the lane with the best of them, but prob not the best body set for a backcourt player where speed is a more needed commodity... at least defensively... He looks to be in decent shape, but I agree, dropping another 5-20 would be great... and I think it would be more beneficial for his game... maybe he wouldn't have the need to constantly slow the game with his slow and plodding bringing the ball upcourt so he could catch his breath...
7th in offense and pace last year Who would you have traded harden with last year who would have produces a higher offense and pace and same win/loss?
I'm not intending to call you out personally on this point... but THIS is the problem with this organization and some of its fanbase... its become nothing but stat geek analytics that are purported to tell the whole story... when they don't! For example...THEORETICALLY, If the Rockets were to take an average of 8 seconds to get the ball across half court and the GSW takes an average of 8.5 seconds to get the ball across half court... One would conclude that the Rockets have no issue getting across half court and into their offense - based on the success of GS and GS theoretically taking longer... but here's what the numbers/stats DON'T tell you... If GS is up by 20 or 30 points and milking the clock for half the game and using the full 10 to get across - that's one thing... But if Houston is down by 10 in the fourth qtr and taking the full 10 to get it across - that's an issue... Stats do not exist in a vacuum... It's like people that want to look at ppg and make a judgement on players based on that stat without looking at shot attempts... The stats do not exist in a vacuum... A player on a suck team can put up great numbers - while they are constantly getting blown out by 30 points... cause the d is lax - cause they're up by 30... Stats do not exist in a vacuum, they have to be viewed in context... That's my rant... again, not singling you out or trying to be an ass or anything... but I have watched plenty of games where we were down, with the clock ticking away, and taking what seemed like forever to even get the ball across half court...
PACE: Pace Factor - the number of possessions a team uses per game If your defense sucks (20th out of 30) and you are giving up quick easy buckets... you will have more offensive possessions... Stats do not exist in a vacuum... Is putting up 105.5 points a game really an accomplishment when you are giving up 105.6? Stats do not exist in a vacuum...
