I've been watching James White since high school and I'm very impressed with his improvement. You're talking about a guy who could do nothing but dunk in high school. Luckily for White, his dunks were the kind that were making Vince Carter's look silly (example: Under the leg dunk from the free throw line).

I was really excited to see him and David Lee go to college together but that didn't last long and White did not do well at all. But, after seeing him do so well in the development league in nearly every statistical category, I am very excited about what this guy has to offer.

    NBDL FG% .549
    FT% .856
    Rebounds: 5
    Steals: 1.2
    Points: 25.9

I would love to see him become more of a play maker instead of just a scorer though. Much like Von needs to do.

It's no secret that Morey has a wonderful eye and support staff for finding young talent and bringing the best out of it. James White will do fine in the NBA and will contribute the R. A.'s offense as soon as he gets his first couple good games out of the way. He is still too concerned with giving Houston those first couple sick dunks we've all been hearing about. Once he gets them in, he will start to focus on what's more important.

Just a funny thought: Imagine if we still had Gerald Green on our team. Imagine the dunk contests after practice between White and Gerald. Wow. haha. (P.S. No, I would not want his deep-fried brain back on our team. But the kid has hops.)

Give him a chance. He might just be an insurance if Wafer bolts to another team or does not play like He did this past season. Low risk player and probably the surprise player for season 2009-2010.

White needs to gain some weight and improve his footwork, especially ask Battier to teach him the techniques during the defensive end.

I remembered he played against Roy during Portland series. His defensive footwork was just horrible and got destroyed by Roy. Although it is a single play, it gives me a basic idea that he needs to work on his fundamentals during the offseason.

Let the truth be told, James White is probably the only one who can challenge lebron in a dunk contest. I think he is going to be a rocket for a long time because honestly wafer doesn't seem like he would stay or even he does, he will most likely get traded given his high stocks at the moment. I like J-Dub, he needs to be ready for the opportunity in training camp and preseason, after all, that's where wafer displayed his skills. I would love for James white to get more games under his belt and it would be nice if he can start couple of preseason games. I don't know why but I think James White is going to good player and even an all star, but It seem like its too soon to say.... Hopefully, he becomes what he has potential to be.

He looks good and i hope he will get more playing time next year.

    Second unit
    Lowry
    Wafer
    White
    Landry
    Hayes or backup C

    should be a tough group

not to get off topic, but....

Is James really a great dunker. I've seen some nice power dunks, but I've never seen any creativity or finesse in his dunks to make me believe that he is a premier dunker.

He is better than superman that is for sure. He can legitimately dunk from the free throw line and put the ball thru his legs when he does it. Imagine that. No one else in the world can do that.

Aside from the lack of similar talent and skills, sure.

Youtube him and judge for yourself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzeAcPik4_s (low quality but you see his elite leaping ability

If you've seen his dunks and still aren't impressed then I don't know what to tell you. While I agree he could use some more creativity, he's probably saving his better dunks for the dunk contest :D .

Like he said in that article, dunking is the one thing that he's got down.

Why does everyone include Wafer in the Mix. He is a longshot at best to make the team. We first would have to not sign Artest. And second would have to get Wafer at a bargain price ( under 2 mil). Morey is all about getting more value for the dollar. He has Landry, Scola, Brooks on bargain contracts. White's contract is a steal if he performs at all. Wafer will not be over paid. Since Wafer thinks he is an all star I don't see him accepting what Morey may not even offer.

We still have to deal with the fact Wafer is a 20 dollar hooker with a 20 million dollar Primadonna mind. He showed his true self centered it's about me colors when the world was watching and his NBA livelihood depended on it. If he can't contol himself then how much more will he control himself when he has a guarateed contract. For someone like him a 3 year deal starting under 2 mil may be too much.

You're talking about a guy who can dunk in between the legs from the free throw line. In my opinion, he is the best single-leg jumpers I have ever seen.

How's White's defense? The article mentions that he's working on it...but who has actually seen this guy play...or even heard about his d....

As far as Lebron's dunks...I was never really that excited by his dunks. I saw the contest he won in high school. It's not like Jordan, Dominique and Carter where I was at the edge fo my seat. It might be that Lebron is built like a linebacker so it doesn't look as impressive. Though, I love Dwight's dunks more so for his creativity.

I think that I just had an epiphany. This past year has been a strange year for me from a Clutchfans stand point. I just can't seem to understand the idiocy and lack of basketball knowledge frequently displayed here in '08-'09.

All of a sudden, though, this post made it clear. I've been in the wrong forum! This is the crack-fiend section. Why didn't anyone tell me?!?

I guess the NBA looks different after smokin' an eight ball. V-Span is good, Wafer is Lebron-like, and now James White and Wafer are being compared to Jordan and Pippen.

Any chance to get a warning label on GARM? Non-crackheads enter at your own risk?

The GARM has many ideas, some good, some bad, it is a great place for Rockets fans....

Not all have good takes or experience at the game of basketball....

Everyone's life experience is different and skews their thinking.

Wafer's defense is absolutely terrible. I mean have you seen him chase opponents around screens? He looks like a chicken with his head cut off. I think James White will far outperform Wafer in the 09-10 season. He has a far higher IQ.
