Having an athletic defender who can shoot and get points in transition is very important. I can see him as a catch and shoot guy,but I like ball handlers because they can create for themselves and others without being too dependent on playmakers. I hope James will be able to maximize his talent with time. Edit: Didn't see the video earlier, the form in his shot didn't look as smooth as I thought he had,and his release was slow.It was good to see him trying to shoot off the dribble and make layups. He has the potential to make the team, but has got a long way to go.I don't have high expectations from him.Wafer is ahead of him on offense by quite a bit it seems. I hope that White will be able to become a good defender. If he has a good IQ he can get some minutes in the upcoming season.
Trevor entered the league at 19. Guys that enter that young still grow. Ariza is every bit 6'9 and he's long. McGrady is closer to 6'9 than 6'8.
Very athletic................. but his release is way too slow on his jumper. He needs a shooting coach to work extensively with him to speed up his mechanics while maintaining his form.
i have a feeling White doesn't like contact...Ariza's willing to do dirty work, i can't see White doing that..maybe it's lack of agressiveness, but he just looks fragile to me..
Excellent! I was thinking along the lines of signing Ariza instead of keeping Artest, but if JWhite can become that spark/defensive addition like Ariza then all the better for the team. This is really great news and I hope that he continues to work hard. Another point to DM for picking him up
James keep working hard, make the team and get in the dunk contest -- we'll worry about everything else after that.
This guy is a beast. If he continues to work as hard as he is now he will definitely be effective NBA player. I wish him good luck, and I hope he makes the team. It's just what Rockets need, athletic, ability to score and dunk.
The Trevor Ariza path suggested in this thread might be aiming a bit high. White's gonna be 27 beginning next season The Jamario Moon path like what you mentionend is more realistic, and A-OKAY by me
He needs to get stronger! I see no strength in his moves or no lift in his jump shot what so ever.Translation" this dude is softer then cotton." If were waiting for this dude to replace wafer this year then we are in trouble...Just look at the picture of his legs on the page, they look like their about to snap.He will not be able to finish in an efficient manner with those toothpicks in traffic.
he is a waste of time and money. just because he looks like Ariza don't mean that he is. Never contributed to any NBA team...ever.
Yeah, Jamario Moon is a pretty fair comparison. But for the record, James White will be 27 at the start of next season, not 28.
I do not want to underestimate these player's hard work. But it is also better to not overestimate the change they would bring next season. It takes time.
id be happy if he turns into a jamario moon, at least defensively, and grabbing boards. i mean anyone can go up there and dunk, but only a few can defend
I think if he's given the chance he could turn out to be great for the team much like Wafer or even better.
