this sounds like we gave the MLE to Mike if it happens. So it would leave us with our two trade exceptions to add more talent

I dont really know much but since we used our MLE we only have the veterans excpetion and the 2 TE's.

Is Mike James really a good defensive player?

We are over the cap, we only have the MLE, and 2 TE's to work with.

All signs point to us using the MLE on MJ with this contract. So, we just have the 2 trade exceptions (4.2 and 1.6 I believe) and minimum contracts to fill out the roster.

Guys, I hope it's true and think it eventually will be.

    But.

This is a small blurb at the end of a Toronto Sun article. They don't even cite a single one of their own sources... just various "reports", which if true you'd think we would've heard by now. The various "reports" could easily be Hoopsworld articles like ABC cited the other night. RealGM is simply paraphrasing the Toronto Sun report.

I hope we get something done, but this isn't exactly Ric Bucher saying multiple sources indicate we're close. This is highly questionable at best and I hope you guys don't get your hopes too far up until we have additional confirmation.

CD: The good news we got Stromile back and all we had to give up was Tracy.. The bad news is we couldnt make the Yao for Mike Miller trade finalize.

Yes, he is very good at pressuring the ball. He's almost as big a defensive upgrade over Rafer as he is shooter.

Mike James is a top 10 defensive player in this league. He said he could have easily held Kobe to 40 in his 81 point game. He said his goal is to win mvp, the championship, and Defensive 1st Team for whatever team he plays for, however long the tenure is.

Rush would be alright. Maybe Songaila with the 4.2. Stevenson may still be an option with the 4.2.

Wasn't the original statemate with Dallas is that they only offered 3 years? 5 years seems long, but it's still great to have him back. I remember when the Rox backcourt were getting burned by Dallas in the playoffs 2 years ago the TNT folk kept harping on our "lack of footspeed" except of course Mike James. At the very least Dallas doesn't get him now.

I am neutral on him, until he refuses to pass to Yao and Tmac, instead just jacking up 3s by himself.

imo, we would be overpaying giving Stevenson 4.2 mil

he seems like a Keith Bogans clone...Songaila would be a good fit here

i question the sources on this, but if it is true i sure hope the figures are wrong. 5 years and $30 million? he's 31 years old, i would prefer not paying a 36 year old PG $6 million a season, but maybe that's just me.

So, if this report is true, we're gonna cave for the full 5 years? To a PG who will be 36 when his contract finally expires?

Yeah, Stevenson would be far from ideal. We need shooters. However, it's going to be much harder to use that TE than it would be to use the MLE.
