It was a question, not a conclusion. But it was based on some saying that Click got canned because he didnt do what Crane asked and/or expected of him.
Isn't that how most employment works. You hire people to do a job, and if you they don't what you expect them to do then you fire them. And don't say Click won us a WS. Every contributing player other than Stanek, Montero, and Neris were Luhnow guys. He didn't do anything to fix the hitting issue and bet his job on an injured guy that was decent for just a few months before he got injured. He didn't want to resign Verlander, he didn't want to play Yuli, he didn't want to resign Brantley. Click was not a great GM. He was a mixed bag but he wanted to get paid like he built the team. He's no Luhnow.
Only concern I'll have is if the GM over pays or gives 1 year too many on a contract just to guarantee himself of landing the player. Also if he feels pressured to land a specific type of player at the deadline, hopefully he doesn't trade away too many of the top prospects and over pay. Crane can veto a trade but if he wants to win now, would he care about prospects since they're all a hit or miss?
Rockets in 94… and again in 95. (Rudy was basically making most personnel decisions with Les dictating quite a bit).
I really do not believe the outcome of the world series has anything to do with the decision to let Click go. The decision was likely made many weeks before the play offs began. I also believe it to be unlikely that any such decision by any owner is tied to the outcome of a few games.
... Well they did win 106 games this year. Again, Click had 3 years here. He made a lot of good decisions during a tumultuous time. Some decisions questionable (as all GM's, even Luhnow have). Its the other 'stuff' that Crane decided he wanted to go with somebody else for, and 3 years worth of time is a plenty large sample size to assess one's true abilities/potential and whether or not you feel that you want to continue to work with that individual.

I would hardly call the white sox our rivals. And hes just a candidate. Like everything else the white sox will screw the pooch.
