Maybe he's not. There was the interview tidbit mentioned by someone in which Weisbrod said they'd resolve the TMac situation "right after the draft".
on 610 they just reported that it would not be a suprise if Jameer Nelson gets sent to houston in the package.
What does everyone else think the Jameer Nelson trade means? 1) Is Nelson the new backup PG? 2) Are they moving Francis to the 2? 3) Does it mean Francis will be moved to a 3rd team in the trade? 4) Does it mean they are going to do the Phoenix deal? 5) Is it "insurance" in case the Rockets deal goes sour?
I love Jameer Nelson. He'll be better than they have been saying all night. I hope this makes him part of the deal.
Everybody keeps talking about Phoenix, but didn't they trade thier #7 to Chicago? I don't see how they are still in the mix. My gut feeling is that Francis will be moved, but who knows.
Take a breath and count to 3. Relax. Jameer Nelson is not a starter from day one. If he was, he wouldn't be picked at 20. However, this could be interesting in that he may be an out for the Magic to trade Steve away later. Remember that from many sources, T-Mac is insisting on only playing with Houston and that any other team will risk having him walk as free agent next year. A long shot would be Nelson being packaged with the trade with T-Mac instead of Lue. (Rockets might be flexing muscle after most other teams dropped out of trade-talks) who knows. But it does look like that the weekend trip for Steve will be important to all parties involved. Steve to save his PR image with B-ball fans (especially in Orlando). Magics, for making this look like a decent deal. Houston to get this trade over with so T-Mac can come play with Ming.
If we're still thinking the trade is going down, I might prefer Gaines to Nelson. He's much taller.. Depends on if we get Barry or Fisher (If we get either). But I think this may be pointless to discuss. First things first.. to Deuce: I think it means the deal with the Rockets is no longer in the lead. PHX packages did not include point guards, and if the Magic are giving up either Lue or Gaines, they'll need another 1. This still gives them flexibility though, since if they send both Gaines and Lue to Houston, they'll need a backup for SF (or a potential starter in case he gets moved on). So it doesn't kill the Rockets deal, but I am not optomistic.
man I'm starting to get worried now. Nelson is probably good enough to be a backup so that crosses out #1. They're not going to have nelson and steve in the same backcourt, that would be suicidal so that crosses out #2. I'm hoping that it's #3. Maybe Steve to seattle for ray allen.
