.... wants security. Stopped reading right there and got an attitude. A-hole wants security while making millions? Yep, that's keeping it real.
Yeah, I don't think there's any security the next $30 million will bring him that the previous $30 million didn't.
I think this is one of those cases where the agent has been whispering poison into the player's ears. There are a lot of bad agents out there.
These guys are digging a hole for the Union in CBA negotiations. Every trade demand is going to raise the owners' determination to do something to stop the madness.
I really hoping for non guaranteed contracts or buyout clauses in the new CBA. That would fix some of these trade demand problems.
this really isnt anything new as people make it out to be there are several players who in the past asked for trades when the team was hesitant on given them an extension. crawford wants an extension but the hawks wont give it to him, and he sees others getting extended and thinks to himself "i just came off the bench and helped this team and just won 6th man of the year, why aren't the hawks rewarding me with an extension?" the hawks want to see what the cba will be like crawford wants the extension before the pending lockout and the new cba i dont see anything wrong with it assuming that crawford talked to hawks management privately first before going public with his demands. this is hawks management we're talking about here they are not the brightest bunch of folks running the show
Disagreed. The Hawks need to go "all in" right now before JJ and his albatross contract starts to kill the franchise -- and by that, I mean your window of opportunity with him on board is the next 2-3 years while he's still a very good player. By the time he's 33-35 years old (and naturally declining as a player) all the while still making $22-25M per year, it's very hard for me to envision that team being a serious contender with that much salary devoted to one player. Crawford has value as both a player and an asset given his $10M expiring deal. That's the type of trading chip that will look VERY attractive once February rolls around. The Hawks need to swing for the fences here (perhaps see type of interest a Crawford + Josh Smith package generates) and if that fails, they need to explore dealing Crawford for somebody like Nene (if Melo makes it abundantly clear he's out thereby signifying the restart in Denver). Furthermore, Larry Drew is supposedly putting an end to ISO-ball and clearly that's the only style Crawford knows how to play. JC has been a solid addition but overall the Hawks need to cash in while his value is high ($10M expiring, reigning Sixth Man of the Year) because he's a poor fit and is far too streaky to rely upon.
How does going public with a trade request/demand help the player OR the organization? I can only imagine that the Hawks lose leverage when other teams know that they are determined to move Crawford. And yeah, it's not like this is something new, but it is something I've always wondered about.
