2 sit on the bench? He wont get any playing time.

Bobby Jackson..... minutes away from BROOKS.

    Carl Landry takes Bonzis minutesssssss

Hopefully we get Barry so Luther Head doesnt play a single game anymore.

I think he would be a nice pick up.

I think some of you have forgotten that The Rockets play in the WESTERN conference where size is at a premium.

If I had to choose, I'd rather pick up Barry, but Magloire would by no means be a bad move in my eyes.

Im not saying we should get Magloire so he can play 15 minutes a game...I want him as depth, just in case Yao needs a rest or gets in foul trouble. He would be an upgrade at the backup C position.

I am confident come summer when Deke announced he retiring, we'll have a hard time finding a replacement that has a good size

No problem. Thanks for making a stupid comment and following it up with a snide remark. There is nothing better than stupidity topped with condescension.

Why you would want to bring in a washed up malcontent into the locker room is beyond me. This isn't Ron Artest we are talking about. This guy would not even crack the rotation so the only contribution he *could* give this team would be as a veteran presence in the locker room.

No thanks. I'll keep our backup C who is a great locker room guy and who also has the ability to rebound and play great defense when he does get on the court.

Even during this horrible season he is having, he would still average over 12 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per 40 min.

The year before, he was at a pace of 12 points, 12 boards, and 1.5 blocks per 40 min.

These are his "down" years. I'll take that any day of the week as my back up C.

He's got good size, he's only 29, and Mutombo is retiring in a couple months.

Having Mutombo and Magloire on the bench is great insurance...anyone who doesnt see that is clueless.

We are not kicking Deke out this year. What if Deke retires next year?
We are adding an inactive or DNP guy for next year.

Some people just post without really thinking.

If we cannot get Barry, and
    Bobby Jones' defense does not prove to be good enough to get minutes on his 10 day contract;

I would not mind trying to sign Magloire, but only for a low salary, 2-yr deal. That way you don't have to scour for a backup C this off-season, we get to see what he has, and then if he bombs out he is an expiring contract next year that we can trade.

Deke will retire this summer, and I don't want us spending our #1 draft pick on a big man. How many other experienced big men will be available this off-season? Or suppose Yao gets injured for even a 8-10 game stretch this year? next year?

I was thinking the same thing that the rox get small when yao goes out. It actually makes more sense than Barry when u actually think about it.

Playing against La,sa,or even phoenix now with shaq. If Yao gets in foul trouble in the playoffs, ur now relegated to chuck hayes or someone like that as yaos backup playing against bynum, duncan, or shaq. At least magloire has size and some skill to man the spot. I would actuall like to get Jamal and start cutting Yaos minutes back to about 33 per. It would make him fresher for the stretch run.

I think Nets was going to wave Stackhouse too if the earlier trade with Dallas fell thru. Nets is in rebuilding mode.

    The Nets currently have:

Nenad Krstic who they are giving minutes to get healthy,
Sean Williams they are trying to give experience to has played well defensively, Diop who they specifically wanted from Dallas and defensive specialist.
Josh Boone who is another "future starter" in their eyes &
Stromile Swift who is twiddling his thumbs but they wanted for "athleticism".

When they signed him it was temporary until Boone & Williams started to get into the rotation and Krstic got healthy.

That is why they waive Magloire. It has little to do whether he was a good player. They are looking to get their future front court better and younger and he is the oldest front court player who they no longer needed or would get playing time.

    interesting thread.
When Yao gets his rest sometimes Scola plays center.
Magloire would be another big body to use, however we have no roster room for him. We signed someone on a ten day contract and we are chasing Brent Barry which means someone gets waived if we were to get Barry. Who would we waive for Magloire?
