I think that's mostly because the fanbase hasn't realised that despite Jalen painting his nails, Reed is the picture perfect image of a young gay man, the haircut, the clothes, he's bang on the money. Our fanbase is pretty unevolved though so they probably think the only gay people are skinny dudes with makeup on and bright glittery clothing or something...
I have never really taken to Jalen Green. I wanted Mobley at the time and I continue to wonder why so many saw him ascending to Kobe or MJ type generational types. But, cmon, the kid can hoop. He might lose his spot to Cam or even to Shepard at the end of the day but it's crazy to deny that Jalen Green, right now, is the closest thing the Rockets have to an alpha dog offensive player. A guy you throw the rock to down 1 with 6 seconds left. I am "somewhat optimistic" that Jalen comes back this season with better form on his jumper and a more selective eye for his shots. Basically, going from volume scorer to force. It wouldn't shock me to see the guy come out and put up a season similar to DeAaron Fox (26 ppg on 47/37/74 shooting splits) with less playmaking. I don't think that's unrealistic.
Optimistic. He was always going to need time to find his place. If you can't see the talent by now then I don't know what else to say. Monumental year for him coming up to say the least. He has 270 million reasons to ball out.
Anyone that does not know my reference from @RudyTBag Well here it is. If he is a homosexual then he should own it and embrace it really.
Yeah that's straight up homoerotic that post lmao. I really hope he doesn't "reveal all" in the GARM, sounds like stuff best left to his fetlife profile...
Except for the ft% That would make him a star and earn the max extension. Highly unlikely in my opinion, but if he could average 22ppg on 47/35/89 shooting it would also earn him the max, unless that 35% came from one hot month.
Why not just use ts%? 47% is pretty hard to obtain for a scoring guard in the modern NBA due to higher volume of threes. This is like 90s basketball talk. Ant Edwards hasn't crossed this threshold in his career yet. He needs to be probably approaching 60% ts if he wants to stay on the team. There are a lot of guards with around a 60% ts that shoot below 47%.
I genuinely don't know why we can't just use Edwards as a benchmark in all honesty, similar archetypes (slightly different frame but the playstyle, age, athleticism etc I don't think there's a better comparison in recent history.) Edwards earned a max extension. His best splits in a season were 46/35/83 or 45/36/75 if you value the 1% higher in 3p% I guess. His best ever TS% is 57% (56 more typical and I believe what he earned his max on) If Jalen can put up 20-24 ppg on 46/35/80 with 56% TS then that's a max player by anybody's standard. Or are people now going to claim that Anthony Edwards, widely hailed as the next Jordan isn't a good enough benchmark?
Was I being snarky? Sincerely asking because I want to just be able to debate without making it seem like I'm attacking you.
No I was just saying that would be a fine metric to use. Didn’t really have much to add. If either of the two measurements happen, I’ll be a happy man and want the Rockets to extend him.
When it comes to Jalen, I just don’t want to lose him for nothing. Only the rockets and team Jalen know if they are in a reasonable ballpark for an extension. Unless Jalen is willing to take in the $20’s, I think he needs to be moved by the deadline.
