I am surprised that the Rapts haven't moved JR already but moving JH and VB in this trade for JR would leave us with SS and Baxter at the PF, a little short of depth don't you think. The Rapts ownership should think about moving Babcock not Rose. Rose was right, Babcock should have kept his mouth shut, his comments just give the players an excuse to not play hard.

YES!!! DO IT! DO IT! I'd trade Wesley and whoever for Rose. Wesley is cool and all, but he's too short to guard bigger guards and too slow. I made the point that our problem was defending opposing guards. Last time I ckecked Howard doesn't play guard. Rose does play guard, however he only has the offense part down. He CAN'T and WON'T play defense. I have nothing to do with you being confused. That's between you and your partner. Howard scored plenty in the second half of the season. If Rose plays for us, you'll get Wesley's or Howard's offense with no defense. Rose would have to play a ROLE, something he has never done, because he still thinks he is a star. We don't finesse around our 2 superstars, we need toughness, energy, unselfish play, character and championship mentality. Jalen Rose is not championship material. It takes a very unselfish person to be a role player.(Horry, Fisher, Ben Wallace etc)

I simply started a thread about trading for Rose so that I could have intelligent conversation about the scenerio. Do I think its going to happen? I dont know and don't care. You just like to play with words don't you? You need to make the distinction between perception and reality. T-Mac was being portrayed as a loser by some of the hypocritical media members, so everything you heard about T-Mac was mostly false. I live in Orlando and I have watched T-Mac play more than anybody else. He DID play good defense, but only a handful of teams play championship defense. The Rockets are one of those teams. The Magic are not. Defense is demanded by coaches like JVG, it wasn't emphasized as much by Doc Rivers. I have also watched Jalen Rose and he doesn't play a lick of defense. You either haven't watched a whole lot of Rose, or you don't have a very good understanding of the game. Jalen Rose is Jim Jackson. As far as I am concerned we had Jalen Rose and we traded him away. I don't want him back. He's too old and slow to chase quick 2's around. You saw the results at the beginning of last year. Jalen Rose, Juwan and Welsey are the same caliber. So you would be trading two players who fit well, help our team chemistry and have accepted their role for somebody who is a question mark in terms of character and who can't play the 2 defensively. Juwan Howard played well defensively for us in the second half of the season and Wesley can defend anybody under 6'6". He defended Kobe, Allen, and even Lebron very well. I can guarantee you that Howard and Welsey for Rose is NOT the kind of 2 for 1 CD was talking about.
Yeah I've seen him play defense, but just 'cause his defense wasn't "great" somewhere else, doesn't mean he won't be a defensive presence under JVG, or just the fact that he would be playing for The Rockets, and what The Rockets play for is a championship, as to when he is in Toronto, they basically play for nothing. Just like when all the Stromile haters say "Stromile is a underachiever and blah blah blah, and he's lazy or w/e they say", that doesn't mean he'll be doing that sh*t when he plays here in Houston, on a championship bound team with a coach who doesn't take sh*t from anyone. I used to post trade proposals for Jalen Rose all the time, with expiring contracts and some of our junk. I really wanted a Rose/Marshall package. Rose is still a nice complementary wing player, and he'd play team defense or sit with JVG. He knows that, just like you do. He's a little wiser, and would love to be on a winner and out of Toronto. Rose and Tmac on the wings is a dangerous combination that demands enough attention to free Yao. Rose can also deliver the ball to the post with his size and passing. But now we have Derrick Anderson, on the cheap. The big problem with Rose is his contract. If he comes in, other guys get unhappy, quick. He does that, too. It's not a coincidence. So we have to give DA a chance to play like a stud before we make any trade for Jalen. That's a trade deadline move, if the 2 is a sore spot.
