You know that Perkins of all people is running out of arguments and defenses when he says.... 'oh well we are professionals, you are fans and nothing.'
This mother****er is all flash, no cash. When it's time to pay the check, he gone. Trade him in while he's young and pretty. Get me some more junkyard dogs.
I really don't want to trade him for a couple years of Giannis or KD. Those are guys you bring in to put around him so he isn't getting swarmed every time he touches the ball like in this series Had a great season. Want to see how we respond next season before we trade him. I am ready to move on from FVV and bring in a star to put around these guys
The sad thing with discussing a #2 pick with lots of expectations, but whose actual history, statistics, and predictive trends all suggest a meh player, is that you desperately want yourself to be wrong because at the end of the day, we are all Rockets fans and we want Rockets players to play well and help the team win. It's actually saddening that I'm not seeing pages of "Jaters" and "here's Jalen's on ball gravity stat" and "the Rockets won and he was doing all the little things" and "if you just compare him to Ant/Booker at Age X you see they're actually all the same!" kind of stuff.
Who would your trade for giannis. Jalen green is the only person who’s gotten a he’s young and inexperienced. The team has been built around Jalen Green. Not sure why people still want to give him a chance. Like how many does he need
My issue with Jalen is that he doesn't want to be the guy. Not that he is playing bad. Whatever from that front, but mentally the guy doesn't want the alpha responsibility.
"Picking" VanVleet over Harden was 100% the right move. James wanted to visit his retired jersey at the strip club, not instill a culture on a down-and-out young team. And, even if he did want that, what kind of culture would it be? A bunch of losers jacking up 22 straight bricks in a winnable game 7? Quitting on the team in LA during game 6? Nah.
I was responding to a post that mentioned trading for Giannis or KD. Not breaking down what the trade should be. Obviously Giannis is untouchable; reportedly they wouldn't even take Luka for him. Swapping Green + filler to meet cap requirements is a joke.
I’m not necessarily against bringing in Giannis, even for Jalen. I just don’t agree that the team has been built around any particular player. There is a reasonable argument that every one of our young guys has been stunted to a degree due to bad coaching in the Silas era, poor roster construction, over-playing vets, etc. I personally would rather see improvement in our coaching situation, rather than a roster overhaul. I’m not necessarily saying get rid of Ime but an “offensive coordinator” would definitely help. Similar to Cleveland and Detroit, we could make additions at the margina and establish a CLEAR hierarchy and make a significant improvement just by virtue of our key players maturing.
How many years are we going to hear that "young and inexperienced" reasoning for him? He's been given freedom to play horrible as a starter and come right back in and start again the next game for four years. It's been that way since he came on the team, while other "young and inexperienced" players have been given the short leash, and not given a third of that time to develop and improve. Jalen is and has always been more of a 6th man in my eyes. For all the time he's had on the court has he really developed 3 times more than those who got a third of his playing time? Is he that great? Is he that much smarter as a player, with much better ball handling skills and court vision? I beg to differ.
