I must admit, I was sat here thinking "wait, that's not a real word, right?" It's rare I see a real word I don't recognise in English, so glad you confirmed it and I didn't have to go check haha.

I think you may have meant "granular?"

    Sure.

I think being able to accurately represent someone's beliefs is more important than litigating my choice of "granular" being accurate or not.

@jogo wants to start from a premise of believing spacing isn't an issue at all for this team. And then he makes fun of my analysis by assuming my ideas of poor spacing aren't based on anything besides vibes hence he brings up Sam Venice and other "analytic heads" as an argument from authority.

It's funny because I know if I bring up spacing metrics based on analytical data tracking that shows spacing issues he'd dismiss it.

There is no clarity to his argument. He believes he's above "vibes" based analysis. But I'm confident if I bring up Jalen's regular season gravity metrics that show poor spacing he'd dismiss it. He'd dismiss it or suddenly become intellectually curious about the origins of these gravity metrics when he wouldn't show that same curiosity to Sam Venice telling him Green sucks. The lack of awareness is frustrating.

Banchero is overrated. Not sure Jabari is better though. I do think Jabari can be better if he is unlocked. (Kind of ironic that his rookie nickname was Locksmith.)

Cade, IMO, is not overrated. Maybe a little bit now. But he was underrated in his first two seasons. A lot of people said he was a bust. But he was mired in a terrible situation and injuries. Detroit was about as bad as the Rockets under Silas. No young player could thrive in those situations. I think Cade has taken a jump more significantly than Jalen. But it is still not sure which guy will turn out to be the superstar they were hoped to be.

Yeah as much as I hate to admit it, Cade really is looking like the real deal to me. Banchero I actually do put higher than Jabari but he is definitely overrated, despite having serious potential I think.

I strongly think we should keep personal attacks out of the GARM. We have the D&D for that. At the end of the day, even as Jalen's biggest fan (well maybe second biggest fan, fchowd0311's got me beat there) how well he does as a basketball player doesn't affect my day-to-day life, and people talking **** about him aren't talking **** about my family, so in the grand scheme of things...it matters little.

Anyway, the thing I really like about Jalen last game was that he actually didn't start of shooting that well, he was below 50% for much of the game and below 40% from three. But as he kept playing, he kept taking (mostly) good shots with confidence and the result was what we ended up getting. Is shooting 8-18 sustainable? Definitely not, not at that volume. But I DO believe that he can score 24 with average to above-average efficiency on this Warriors team every night, and that's ALL we need.

Jalen has historically struggled against the Warriors. I don't know if it's because he grew up idolizing Steph, or because he was in his camp or whatever, but sometimes it's hard to see your idols as mortals. Well, I think he'll definitely have broken through that mental barrier after last night. Game three can't come soon enough.

You have to understand when I see someone like DD make comments about sports psychology, what streams into my head are images of his sedentary privileged lifestyle that hasn't experienced the amount of hardship required to have this type of psychoanalysis of professional athletes, it isn't my love for Green that triggers me. It's me remembering him dismissing genocide has a fat f*** that triggers me.

There are people who express stupid defenses of Green that make them a bigger "only fan" than me.

It's DD's pseduo sports psychoanalysis that triggers me knowing the lifestyle he lives and that level of comfortability allowing him to dismiss entire groups of humans and their struggles.

That is what triggers me. Not him calling Jalen green a front runner. It's just the catalyst that reminds me of his dismissal of genocide with "war is war".

And yeah, it's a character flaw in me not being able to separate that in a basketball discussion on an internet forum from their genocidal takes on groups of humans I guess. But it's a character flaw I can deal with because I don't think it impacts my moral character much. Like I said, it's very hard to shame me in feeling triggered about this.

My hatred of DD is on moral principle, not him hating Jalen Green.

Yeah Cade is still better and more consistent than Jalen. Not overrated but shouldn't be MIP. He's a no 1 pick

And Banchero is overrated but still better than Jabari. Defensively Jabari is better

I'm 100% not trying to shame you, I'm just saying that all this talk of genocide and privilege and obesity and stuff doesn't have anything to do with Jalen, who is the main topic of this thread. There are lots of people who bring extra stuff into this discussion (e.g. Jalen's nails, his voice, etc etc) but those are very idiotic takes that are still Jalen-centric.

Again, let me reiterate that any criticism of Jalen stemming from his appearance is dumb as ****. At the end of the day, though, it's still tangentially related to basketball--which is ostensibly what the GARM, and the many threads in it, should be about.

That's just my opinion, it's not worth any more than anybody else's.

And I'm saying when a genocidal denying privileged sedentary morbidly obese suburbanite who hasn't experienced a sincere struggle in his life does pseudo psychoanalysis of athletes and them being front runners it triggers me.

I turn into that blue haired eye popping out wokeist meme and I can't help it.

Cade is much better than Jalen, that's obvious.

Banchero is overrated (see Coach FChow and I agree on something!) but he's pretty good offensively. If Jabari improves his offense a bit then he could be better than Paulo because Jabari is also a great defender.

Coach F - I never said spacing isn't an issue. It's not nearly as big of an issue as people on here seem to believe. And I don't think you've ever taken any criticism of Jalen and thought about it rationally. You just lose it and attack.

You literally said spacing isn't an issue dude. This is what I mean by your inability to fine-tune your word usage to be more specific.

I agree 100% though as somebody who DD has made light of my dead relatives i can actually understand why people think he'd be fine with it. Just a thought.

Cade is better than Green now mainly because his floor as a primary lead ball handler is higher than Green.

But your word usage makes me wonder how big of a gap you think it is and whether you are ignoring some context that makes the gap smaller.

Keep in mind Cade averaged nearly 5 turnovers per game to Jalen's 2. Keep in mind both these dudes are on ball rhythm players because they have been on ball dominant players their entire basketball careers.

What would Green's assist numbers look like if he had the greenlight as a primary ball handler to have 5 turnovers per game? What would his scoring numbers look like?

What would Cade look like swapping between on ball and off ball roles mid game? Would that affect his rhythm? Would that decrease his scoring efficiency?

Do you ask any of these basic questions when analyzing these two players?

What? I did no such thing - wtf are you talking about?

Please post this, and let's see the context - if it is real, or imagined......if it is real, I owe you an apology, but I suspect it is just misconstrued by you.

I don't make fun of dead anyone.......or wish ill upon anyone (with an exception for someone harming others).

You are the worst type of person. Right wingers often have an inability to express empathy for any outside groups. But it's people like you, who chastise and hate MAGA(rightfully so), who has also shown an ability to use empathy for some outside marginalized groups but then throw it all away just for brown people from the Middle East.

Like you just throw away all your empathy skills for this one group of people and it makes you worse than MAGA because you show the capability of expressing empathy but chose not to for specific groups.

To the point of defending students activists being black bagged and sent to detention camps for their expression of empathy towards Palestinians. Someone who hates MAGA and defends the black bagging of student activists is unhinged. That combo of beliefs held in one person is more disgusting than being just some MAGA chode because YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER

Show me where I said spacing isn't an issue because I don't remember saying that. I do remember saying shooting is a much bigger issue.

I don't think Jalen is a primary ball handler. He's not a PG. He's a bit of a combo guard. If Jalen was a point guard I think his assist/TO ratio would be worse than Cade's (it's already worse). If he had the responsibilities of being the starting PG and the leading scoring then how would that affect his play?

Cade is better than Jalen in virtually every stat. Having Jalen at PG won't change that. FG%, 3Pt%, FT% (that's Jalen's str and Cade is better than him at both FT% and FTA), Reb, Assists, Steals, Blocks. Cade plays two more minutes a game and I don't think that influences these that much.

I think some people look at how Jalen has played for FOUR YEARS and think this is who he is. I'm one of those people. His stats are pretty much dead the same over four years. Does that ever start to matter? Jalen can improve but his ceiling is capped. Again, now we've seen FOUR YEARS of this same play. I know people can find 3 people in the NBA that broke out in their 5th year but I doubt any of them had the free reign and minutes that Jalen had day one. At this time last year (no playoffs) everyone was saying "just wait till this time next year and you'll see!" I see pretty much the same player.

This is a bit disingenuous: "Keep in mind Cade averaged nearly 5 turnovers per game to Jalen's 2. Keep in mind both these dudes are on ball rhythm players because they have been on ball dominant players their entire basketball careers."

Don't worry, I looked up disingenuous and I think I'm using it correctly. I think you need to "fine tune your words." First, Cade averages 4.4 TOs not "nearly five." If you're going to get on someone for being specific in their language then I think you probably know 4.4 is closer to 4 than 5. Again, Jalen doesn't have "2" turnovers a game, he has 2.5 (again, if we're going to round, we would round 2.5 up. You know this.) So Cade's TOs get rounded up and Jalen's rounded down? That improves your argument but is BS and you know it.

Any GM in the league would choose Cade over Jalen and it's not close. And after four years it's not about what Jalen can become. This is who he is (for the most part) unless he dedicates himself to shooting in the offseason.

Dude, you're cracking. Chill and get off your moral highground. You lefties love doing this while being the least tolerant people. Also, we áre talking about Jalen and not about some social justice warrior crusade.
